Coningsby was home to myself and a group of students along with another professor colleague in June 2007. we were in Belize City to learn about health and human services. Coningsby was a great base. The new manager who was the owner worked in the stock market for more than 20 years in the USA. She has now returned home and the place is well-run and she is very helpful in arranging transportation for tours or to the airport. Rooms were clean, with cable TV and phones in the room which is a lot of amenities for a small 10 room inn. the security is great and it is near the waterfront. You can walk to the commercial center of town, to the tourist village and to the museum. The food is very good and the staff are friendly.

“Complete Dump”

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone at anytime. It is in total disrepair and smells bad.

We only stayed one night and that was too long. The rooms are cramped and the bathroom was awful. When we complained that the light in the bathroom didn't work, they brought us a light bulb! It was a joke.

The staff was lazy and seemed put out if you asked for anything.

I can't believe that hotels.com even puts this place on line.

The Coningsby Inn in Belize city was a great budget palce to stay. The rooms were large and quiet, the staff - and even their families - went out of their way to make us feel at home. The neighborhood is relatively safe, but afterall this is Belize city . However the hotel itself is very safety aware - you will feel safe here. Food was average, I recommend eating out - but if you are strapped- its always nice to be able to get some food right where you are staying.
