“It did what I needed it to!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Bachelor Inn offered inexpensive accommodations for myself, my partner and our 2 traveling dogs.
Initially, I was somewhat skeptical with the location, and the police leaving on my arrival; however, I reminded myself that I was staying in Belize City and I was traveling with pets. (As such not a lot of choice on where to stay! BI is the only place that will accommodate pets)
Nancy was very helpful and seemed happy to have us stay with her. She even arrange a place for my dogs to stay, and be secure, without having to keep them locked inside the room, if I needed to leave the premise.
The room we got was simple and basic it had a TV, and fan as well as a two ringed hob, however, the hob had no propane tank. For us that was not a big deal as we were only spending one night.
With the help of one of Nancy's staff members we were able to find a great little restaurant/ take away place to have our lunch. The food was delicious, and at $6 BZE for a whole plate of food we got great value.
If you need an inexpensive and tidy room for the night, BI will satisfy!

“Great find on a budget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I'm a student traveling on a limited budget at Thanksgiving break, and found this great hotel!! Nancy was so wonderful - she brought me coffee when I needed it, and was really nice to talk to. I loved the roof deck just to hang out and read and see the Caribbean. It had a kitchen so I didn't need to eat out all the time, which I really couldn't afford anyway. For students traveling on limited funds, this was really a great place!

“Good value, Nancy is very helpful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We are a couple in our early 40s needing a place to stay for a few days while in Belize City for a Convention. This place was a good find. Nancy put us in a room on the top floor, where we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had a kitchen area supplied with cooking and eating utensils, and a sitting area, in addition to the expected bedroom and bathroom. The air conditioner worked well, we had wi-fi, the shower was hot, the beds were nothing fancy, but comfortable enough. We spent a couple of evenings on the rooftop, although, yes, it's pretty run down. But it was a pleasant place to enjoy the view and eat a meal. The padlock on the inside door probably isn't the safest, if there ever were a fire; but we felt secure as far as general safety was concerned, and Nancy was looking out for us, making sure we were satisfied and not lacking anything. We ended up eating take-out food from Anna's Fast Food (Chinese) across the street, nothing fancy, but reasonable, and also a decent place to pick up some basic necessities.

Overall, for the price, we were quite content with our accommodations and with the service that Nancy provided. We would stay here again. Of course, it's not a resort, but it's a decent place to call home for a few days if you're in town.

“The owner Nancy has mental problems”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

It was early in the morning and you could hear Nancy yelling and screaming outside. This noise went on for thirty minutes. I went down stair and I saw Nancy yelling at the house keeper (employee). The employee became frighten and call her husband. The husband told Nancy that his wife will no longer work for her and she should pay her.

Nancy refuses to pay the employee and kept on yelling and screaming. She has a mental problem and she is incompetent to run a motel.

Nancy then began to tell me about the employee. I was a guest there and did not need to hear her dirty laundry.

DO NOT STAY AT THE BACHELOR INN.

“good deal for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2011

If you want to pay top end for a room -- go somewhere else. If you wnat to rent a room and not buy it, Bahelor Inn is a good place. Another reviewer mentioned ants, and I'll tell you carry bug spray ANY WHERE YOU GO IN CENTRAL AMERICA, I'd carry it to the finest hotels too, but I'd rather save my money for playing than have a fancy room.

You can see my review and some pics at http://belizewalkabout.blogspot.com/ I just tell it as it is....
