Places to eat in Caye Caulker:
- Rose's. It's at the other end of the island (which is like a 10 minute walk, at the most). There was a woman heckling us to come eat there, so we were hesitant. But I am so glad we did. Cheap shrimp skewers, lobsters and awesome drinks. We ate there twice, it was that good!
-Happy Lobster. I had a delish chopped lobster dish. Excellent.
Things to know about Belize in general:
- It is completely dark out by 5:30pm
- The locals will heckle you and keep heckling you until you leave. They will TELL you where to stay and that that is the only place with vacancy. My advice, cut them off right away with a smile and a "no thank you". And keep saying it. They will eventually give up and find someone else to make a commission off of. They are persistent, but harmless.
- If you don't like dogs or are afraid of them, don't come to Belize! They are everywhere! Some kitties too. :)
- Go inland to San Ignacio and do the ATM caves tour. It is a must! And is an amazing experience. Definitely worth $85 USD. Ask for Orlando from Mayawalk Tours.
- Stay alert and be safe!
