“Incredible Hotel”

We just returned from Caye Caulker and had an amazing trip. I did a lot of research and when we stepped foot into the Iguana Reef I knew that we made the right decision - it is the most beautiful hotel on the island! The property has been so well maintained that it feels like it's brand new. Anne, the office manager, was terrific in answering all of my questions prior to arrival and helping make arrangements to ensure wonderful tours and an overall great stay. The Iguana Reef has the feel of a luxury boutique hotel at a reasonable price, especially since the stay includes breakfast and the use of kayaks.

The hotel is on the back side of the island (perfect for sunsets) which made it more quiet but since the island is so small it was a two minute walk to all the action. There are only a few hotels with pools and the Iguana Reef definitely had the best one! Also, because the beach has been man-made you don't have the same problem with sand fleas that you find elsewhere on the island.

If you are looking for a luxury atmosphere but still want to the laid back experience of Caye Caulker then book a room at the Iguana Reef. By far, it's the best place to stay on the island!

Room Tip: There are only a few ocean facing rooms. #4 was the best Standard as it was the second floor with wi...

“Best hotel in Caye Caulker”

Lovely and nice hotel in Caye Caulker located 2 minutes from the main road with all the restaurants. In the night very still place so you can sleep very well!!! Each room has a terrace or balcony (or 2), frieze and air-condition. Very friendly staff. Good breakfasts and cocktails in the evening. Behind the hotel you can watch very nice sunset. If you go to Caye Caulker and you choose this hotel, you are not going to be disappointed. Absolutely not!!!! Just take a room on the last floor (otherwise you will hear your neighbours walking) :-)

“Sandy atoll”

A calm sea made for a fun sea trip from Belize City followed by a 5 minute walk from the jetty with cases to the Iguana Reef Inn. A warm welcome to a room that was quite beautiful, well-lit, geat windows with modern blinds, a lounge area but no coffee or tea making facility, especially since the bar closes at 9pm. One or two other problems included the poor sound proofing of the rooms so we had to go to the room above and ask the occupants to turn down the heavy reggae music, cd and cd player provided by the hotel. Otherwise, a very comfortable and pleasant retreat on the very small Caulker Caye and, despite being overpriced is recommended. Tips for the owners: improve the sound proofing, breakfasts and tea/coffee making and you have a superb hotel.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms give you more space. Try and get one on the sea front to get a view of the sunset.

“Best place on the island”

Comfortable, clean and modern, we loved this place. The staff was friendly and professional; especially Annie, who cheerfully answered all of our questions and helped us arrange outings each day we were on the island. The Inn was centrally located on the island, which is small enough that everything was close anyway. We would have preferred to see a few more additional food options available at the bar, and a bit more variety in the breakfast menu--some breakfast meets or cheeses, perhaps. The pastries and fresh fruit were welcome each morning, however, and we never felt the need to go elsewhere for our morning meal. Josue was very helpful behind the bar. He mixed a nice drink, although as with the breakfast, the food options were limited.

The rooms were clean and the property was well-tended. The bed was comfy, and the bathroom well-stocked with soap, shampoo, etc.

Should we return to Caye Caulker, we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We shared the third-floor penthouse suite with friends. We found it an excellent value, probably ch...

“Island Christmas Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We had a wonderful time relaxing and visiting with our two families by the pool and around the property at Iguana Reef Inn. Service was always very prompt and exceptionally friendly and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated and everything functioned as planned. The local wedding planner took care of all the details and we relaxed and enjoyed the occasion. The Caye Caulker community is small and everyone knows each other so it is easy to get connected and make last minute adjustments. The hotel also made tour arrangements for us and helped in last minute planning so we felt like we were among friends and we enjoyed sharing our time with them. Being on the back side of the island made it quieter and more peaceful for us and we felt very safe and secure in this very well maintained facility. It was a great way to spend Christmas and celebrate our children's wedding.

Room Tip: Penthouse has a great view from the balcony
