We spent 3 nights at the Anchorage resort which is located in a quiet spot a bit of the beaten track and therefore very quiet. This hotel has no restaurant but there is a hut where one can get coffee and/or tea and at the reception beer and sodas are sold.
The rooms are nice in size and well appointed with but a bit rough and aged. The water for showers and at the sink smells like sulpher and the faucets get stuck from time to time. The water quality should be improved and the faucets can be kept operational by using a solvent. Room service was good and timely. The two caretakers were very friendly and ready to help the service level at the reception could be improved. the Anchorage is about a 15 minutes wallk from the busier section of Caye Caulker with restaurants and shops. The beauty of this place is that it is quiet and right from the beach one can see pelicans diving in for fish as well as other birds.

I climbed into bed that night and found a bunch of sand where my feet were in the sheets. Apparently the people who stayed in that room the night before got into bed with sand on their feet. I felt pretty disgusted to be sleeping in the same sheets and somebody else when the management told me the room was clean.
The air conditioner didn't work either.
It was a great beach location and the kids loved it but dirty sheets is nasty.
It was average price for dirty sheets.

comfy rooms, for when you're not on the beach, cruising front street or snorkeling/diving. Dock service, nice cabana, sandy beach with hammocks for resting and relaxing... what they do best on Caye Caulker.

Stayed here for three nights in Feb 2009. The rooms and bathrooms are tired to say the least but this is one of the few hotels that have loungers and hammocks on a beach rather than a pier. We had a room on the top floor near the sea which had a lovely view along the coast from the balcony again something not available at a lot of the hotels. Also it is at the end of the main strip so you do not get lots of pedestrian/ taxi /bicycle traffic running past .The rooms have a small fridge and A/c. I can understand the disappointment of the honeymoon couple and my advice would be to turn up on speck and check it out or just book one night rather than pay upfront for longer and be disappointed. We were there in Feb and there was no shortage of places to stay. . For us the location and the view up the coast at sunrise and sunset made this a good choice. However I am sure there are places which have much nicer rooms in this price range
