I can't say enough good things about Renita and her Changes in Latitudes B&B. The hotel is a short walk south of downtown, easily accessible by a nice walk on the beach or by the road. True, it's not on the beach, but the property includes a nice little outdoor oasis with comfortable chairs, hammocks, and some yard games. The rooms are small, but who cares when you're on the islands: you're there to be out and exploring the island. But, again, if you want to hang around, the property is well maintained, private, quiet and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious: we had fry jacks the first morning, oatmeal caramel pancakes the second, and a mexican breakfast taco the third. All breakfasts are homemade from scratch are served with fresh fruit, juice, and coffee.
Above all, you can't beat the customer service. Renita was willing to help us with any and everything, and was even willing to help our friends who were staying at a separate hotel. She researches daily activities and trips, and lets guests know what is going on in the evening. She's been in the business long enough that she knows which tour guides to use and which ones to avoid, securing you the best price and the best experience.
A note to future guests: if you book Changes in Latitudes through a site like Expedia or Hotels.com, make sure you then contact the hotel directly. Because those sites won't share customer information with the hotel, she doesn't know if its a couple or if its friends and has different rooms to accomodate different types of guests. She totally aims to please, so if she knows who is coming and what you might want to do, she's happy to arrange things before your arrival!
Room Tip: Contact Renita before hand and let her know if you have any special requests!
