“Fantastic Beachfront Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2009

Just recently came back from a week in Belize. My friend and I stayed 3 nights at the Sundiver Beach Resort, located about 4.5 miles north of San Pedro. As soon as we got to San Pedro, we rented a golf cart to drive to Sundiver. Big Mistake. The road was very bad behind Captain Morgan's where a very large mud hole stood in our way. We sunk to our cart axle, and if it were not for 2 local young men helping us out, we would not have made it to Sundiver. Upon arriving at Sundiver, we were greeted by Laura, the resort manager who immediately offered us the welcome drink. Don't remember what it was called, but it was very good and I ordered a few more for me and my friend. Francisco also was very nice and he took our bags from the cart and brought them to our room. It was a great room on the second floor with a wrap-around balcony. The room was very clean, roomy and comfortable. Every morning, Laura cooked a hot breakfast for us with scrambled eggs and bacon. I had stayed at Captain Morgans on my previous trip to Belize, but truthfully, I liked Sundiver better. It was much more relaxing, larger rooms and very nice balconies. Laura, Francisco and Chris (Owner) were the best of hosts. Too bad the Sundiver is no longer available. Chris has decided to lease the resort to an organization for use as a young women's retreat for the next three years. We were the last guests Chris will be hosting. Too bad, because I really would have liked to spend a few days again next summer.

“Great value in a beautiful spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2009

I and two adult daughters spent several days at Sundiver. It is a delightful small place and everything was as promised on the Sundiver web site. The price was right, and the rooms were simple and comfortable. The owner and staff were wonderfully helpful with suggestions for activities and also arranged for us to rent a boat with driver whenever we wanted. The location is very rural with lots of birds around. There is a wonderful view of the ocean and the famous barrier reef. In addition to ocean swimming off of the pier, one can use the t wo swimming pools. The social center is the informal palapa bar. We bicycled 4.5 miles along the beach to San Pedro one day. I hired a guide to the local birds another day. We had a private boat tour another day. The staff will cook breakfast on request, but Sundiver does not provide other food beyond sandwiches at the bar. We bought supplies and made our own breakfasts and treated ourselves to a restaurant dinner most nights. We had a wonderful time!

“Sundiver Beach Resort a very nice place to vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2009

My husband and I just returned from Ambergris Caye in Belize where we enjoyed a long weekend vacation. We had pre-arranged to meet some friends there at the Sundiver Beach Resort approximately 4.5 miles north of San Pedro. The Sundiver was the perfect place for the 6 of us. Each of us had a very nice room all with lovely views of the Caribbean and those nice ocean breezes blowing through. Our room had everything we needed including a refrigerator coffee maker, separate living and breakfast area from the bedroom, and air conditioning which we never used because the weather was just perfect. Being on a 4 day vacation we spent most of our time at the resort which has a beautiful beach, boat dock and palapa bar on the beach looking straight at the Caribbean. I have never seen such beautiful ocean water in my life. Just standing in the gin clear water and looking down I saw all sorts of tropical fish and a large Starfish. We took the water taxi into San Pedro for a Saturday night of fun visiting various night clubs. One the highlights of the weekend for me was riding the water taxi back to the Sundiver at midnight. The ocean and sky were so dark the stars were amazing. After an afternoon and evening in San Pedro it was nice to have the quiet and relaxation the Sundiver offers to just kick back, swim and share drinks with friends. I was told the place is under new management although the staff has been there for many years and couldn't have been nicer, especially Lora who took such great care of us, making us breakfast, bar tending, telling us about island life. So, what did we do there? My husband fished, some of our party was there for 10 days and did some interesting things on the mainland. Me, I just sat on the beach and enjoyed the breeze, the sky and the ocean.

  • Liked — The location and the bar on the beach and the ocean.
  • Disliked — Some in our party were bothered by mosquitoes however they did not seem to bother me.

“No contest...Sundiver is exactly what the Dr. ordered”

We just returned home from 10 wonderful, if a bit rainy, days in Belize. We stayed at Sundiver Beach Resort, and loved every minute of it. The staff is second to none. Melinda booked our trips, called our taxi's, and did everything we asked her to do with no complaints. Mark was our personal bartender, who makes a mean melon colada if I do say so myself. Laura, Rosa, and Virginia were wonderful to interact with everyday. Virginia is a great cook with a great singing voice, and we loved everything she made us. Rosa and Laura made our stay clean and comfortable, and were never intrusive. Berto and Clifton made sure everything was in working order and the beach was cleaned everyday of the seagrass that washed up during the night. The pool was filled with crystal clear water, that was refreshing after a day spent in the sea. I can honestly say our experience at Sundiver could not have been any better. Ebbe and Mariann were wonderful, and everyone should feel 100% confident in booking at this resort. If your experience is anything like ours was it is sad leaving because you are not just leaving the island, you are leaving family.

“Loved Belize and Sundiver!”

We just returned from 8 days in Belize. It was a truly fabulous and memorable vacation! We stayed at Sundiver Beach Resort and had a wonderful time. The resort is small (12 rooms) and very laid back. They offer a great deal of personal attention. If you are looking for a luxurious place this resort is not for you. But, if you are looking for a quiet, authentic get-a-way...go for it! We felt like we were at our own private resort. Melinda made restaurant recommendations & excursion reservations for you, Mark served cold beers & mixed drinks right on the beach, Virginia & Laura served a mean french toast and Ebbe & Maryellen, the owners, catered to every other need. We would go back in a heartbeat! They serve breakfast and lunch and the food is delicious (and very affordable!!). For dinner you can take the water taxi into town or walk to several resorts within ten minutes. We went discovery scuba diving, snorkeling, cave tubing, hiked in the jungle, and zip lined through the canapes. We will never forget our time in Belize and at Sundiver.
