The Blue Tang Inn is like a little oasis on Ambergris Caye. Its located at the northern end of the main part of town, and is situated on a lovely little piece of beach. We just returned from staying for a week at this little gem and have already made our reservations for next year! There are just 14 rooms, but all are "suites" with living area, dining table, and a kitchenette, and are air conditioned and cute and clean! (we didn't need the a/c in February - we had lovely cool breezes all week long) If you want to see detailed info about the inn, just go to their web page, where you can see pictures of the grounds, the rooms, and all the details you could need about the inn. Fanny and Allan are such gracious managers - they will truly do anything to make your stay enjoyable, as will all of the staff. I think it says a lot about a hotel when the employees have all been there for years. The inn has WIFI and a golf cart that you can rent for excursions around the island, but really, the main town is within a very short walk and is very safe at all hours. Richie's grocery is a block down the street from the hotel, so you have the opportunity to stock your kitchen and fridge if you want snacks and drinks in your room. Allan can also have the fridge stocked with beer, sodas, and water before you arrive if you wish. The pool area is lovely and the continental breakfast met our needs - a baked/hot item such as johnnycakes, muffins, waffles, or breakfast burritos - and fruit, juice, coffee, yogurt, cereal, and hot water and teabags were available every day. The rooms were kept spotless, the beds were perfectly firm, there was plenty of room for our belongings without feeling cramped, and we were extremely pleased with everything about the Blue Tang Inn.
We've been to AC 6 times now, and I think we've found our "home" on the island. Can't wait till our next trip to the Blue Tang.
