We spent the end of January and beginning of February at the BYC. The resort was very quiet which was good for us as we are out early each morning for activities. We had a one bedroom, upstairs, in a duplex style building. Had neighbors downstairs but don't think we had anyone next door as we never saw or heard them. The resort does have several fulltime residents so I can only assume that some owners release their holding to the property management for use by timeshare companies.
I contacted the BYC by both email and telephone before arrival to confirm our reservations which were booked through Interval International. Though my confirmation through II stated that airport transportation was provided we found out it was not. Cost from the airport to the resort for the taxi was only $5 USD, and 5 minutes away so that was bearable.
Check-in was pretty easy, we filled out a view forms and someone came to get our luggage. The room had a kitchenette with frig, stove and sink; however their were no dishes, silverware, pots/pans provided. The office gave us a form to fill out of what we would like for our stay in this regard, a couple hours after turning it in to the office the items were brought to our room. Make sure you request a coffee maker if you need your morning jolt of caffine.
Like others have said, the accommodations are showing fair wear and tear, similar to your average 3 star hotel outside the major cities of Europe. It wouldn't take much to fix up the interiors but I don't know if that is the owner or management company's responsibility. We did have maid service everyday, they swept the floors and brought clean towels. I can't remember if they ever changed the linen on the bed.
When we checked in we didn't receive any information about the BYC, nor was there any literature in the room. We knew they had a pool and a private dock, but didn't know it they had a restaurant or bar on the premises. We had walked by a small cooking area with bar stools but didn't see anyone there until later in the week. There looked to be a pool bar but then again we never saw anyone there either.
The private dock came in very handy for us as both the dive company we used and the company that we booked an excursion to the mainland picked us up on the dock.
I wouldn't make the BYC my choice to stay if I wanted luxury accomodations and good service, but if you want a nice quiet place to sleep at night and they give you a reasonable quote you will find the BYC okay for a week's stay.
The best thing we found was the use of the dock for our transportation and that we were only a 15 minute walk to the heart of San Pedro. In that respect the location of BYC provided us with easy access to everything we needed.
