We just got back from Villas at Banyan Bay last week. This place is fantastic! The rooms are clean and welcoming and the grounds are impeccable. It is a beautiful relaxing place to stay and a perfect location. The beach is a beautiful view but does have lots of seaweed on shore. They try hard to get rid of it each day but it's impossible. Our maid, Ana, was the best!! The pool was beautiful and the perfect temperature. No getting up at dawn to save chairs by the pool - no need to. This was our first time in Belize so here are some things we found out that may help others. The restaurant on this property is beautiful but we thought a little spendy. The rooms have a full kitchen and we would make a brunch in the morning and then go out for dinner in the evening at different places each night. The grocery store is about a block away. Drinks are about 7 - 8 dollars for fancier ones. Beer is quite reasonable and if it's ice cold it tastes pretty good. Rum drinks are more reasonable too. Beer averages about 2-3 dollars. We rented a golf cart from Crystal and it was a little more reasonable than at the hotel and we had no problems in dealing with them. It is really nice to have a golf cart to get to restaurants and do some exploring of the island. Evening dinners probably averaged about 15 to 20 dollars per person. The food was really good everywhere we went. Ate alot of fresh fish and seafood. You can wear shorts and t-shirts to any restaurant around. It's a very casual area. The weather was beautiful every day and the water and sand and palm trees are so pretty. Snorkeling was great - we went with Happy & Grumpy and can't say enough good about them. I will review them with more details. All in all it was a fantastic vacation.
