“Loved this place and San Pedro”

We just got back from Villas at Banyan Bay last week. This place is fantastic! The rooms are clean and welcoming and the grounds are impeccable. It is a beautiful relaxing place to stay and a perfect location. The beach is a beautiful view but does have lots of seaweed on shore. They try hard to get rid of it each day but it's impossible. Our maid, Ana, was the best!! The pool was beautiful and the perfect temperature. No getting up at dawn to save chairs by the pool - no need to. This was our first time in Belize so here are some things we found out that may help others. The restaurant on this property is beautiful but we thought a little spendy. The rooms have a full kitchen and we would make a brunch in the morning and then go out for dinner in the evening at different places each night. The grocery store is about a block away. Drinks are about 7 - 8 dollars for fancier ones. Beer is quite reasonable and if it's ice cold it tastes pretty good. Rum drinks are more reasonable too. Beer averages about 2-3 dollars. We rented a golf cart from Crystal and it was a little more reasonable than at the hotel and we had no problems in dealing with them. It is really nice to have a golf cart to get to restaurants and do some exploring of the island. Evening dinners probably averaged about 15 to 20 dollars per person. The food was really good everywhere we went. Ate alot of fresh fish and seafood. You can wear shorts and t-shirts to any restaurant around. It's a very casual area. The weather was beautiful every day and the water and sand and palm trees are so pretty. Snorkeling was great - we went with Happy & Grumpy and can't say enough good about them. I will review them with more details. All in all it was a fantastic vacation.

Room Tip: You don't have to have a beachfront villa for a good view. We were 15 feet from the pool and co...

“Truly a treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I'm sad to say we are leaving the Villas today. This resort is absolutely wonderful. The staff sincerely do all they can to make your experience the best. The villas are beautiful inside, the beds are very comfortable, and clean. The grounds keepers are constantly working to maintain the beautiful gardens and pool. The service at Rico's restaurant is excellent. I will definitely be returning to the Villas at banyan bay.

We rented three units, and they were all excellent.

“Nice People, made our stay very pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We had a very nice time at Banyan Bay. Although a few things went wrong with our trip, none of this was the fault of Banyan Bay, who were very nice and helpful. The property itself was very nice, even though we had unseasonably rainy weather in January.

The problems were that (1) American Airlines Vacations pushed us to hire a rental car we couldn't use without properly checking out the property (you can only get here by boat or plane) and then tried to deny responsibility, wasting our valuable holiday time until confronted by signed affidavits that they were in the wrong. Banyan Bay actually helped us to resolve this problem, and they get kudos for this.

(2) when without any warning Bottom Time Dive shop closed down and vacated the premises, Banyan Bay reception picked up the slack and helped us book our outings.

We enjoyed our stay in Belize.

Room Tip: It is worth it to get a beachfront room.

“Christmas 2011”

Villas at Banyan Bay are AWESOME. We were very pleased with our room, we had the room facing the beach which is right out the front door. The housekeeping staff (Mary) was fantastic!! The front desk (Robin) was awesome, she was there to offer anything we needed to make our stay better. We rented the golf carts from the resort which was very affordable and worth it. We had a small issue with the shower head in the guest bathroom. I called the front desk and within a few hours maintenance was there and the problem was solved. It was really nice having the fully furnished kitchen, we went to the grocery store which is right around the corner and bought groceries to cook. The resort has bike to use, kayaks to use (my husband and his brother used it to go out to the reef) and the pool was wonderful. The restaurant (Rico's) was very nice and we even used the room service. We had several meals at the restaurant out in the gazebo which is over the water. (awesome experience)

“The BEST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

Banyan Bay has always been and will continue to be perfect for that tropical get away. The staff (all) are friendly and attentive to any issues. We go yearly and will continue to do so. The grounds, beach, rooms are maintained daily. Housekeeping is the best.

Room Tip: the upper floors have beautiful Belizean wood vaulted ceiling. The downstair rooms are identical, b...
