“Beautiful place for a honeymoon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

We had a wonderful stay at Capitain Morgan's for our honeymoon!
The rooms were nice and the staff were great!
There was a security guard that walked the grounds and we felt very safe. we bought food and drinks from the store in back to save $$ as well as calories from eating out all week.
We did go in "low season" so not everything was open, we were specifically bummed about the swim-up bar being closed. But it was nice how quiet the island was!
The water taxis were great, but ladies don't plan on doing any extravagant hairstyles. With the humidity and the wind from the boat a pony tail is about the best I could do. lso would not recommend bringing a coffee or any drink without a tight cap on board, the waves can be brutal.
We did have regular power outages at the hotel but it was no big deal. They were usually during the day when we were out anyway. The only way we knew was that we kept re-setting the clocks and the next day they would be flashing again.
Also good to note before you go is that the people who live there are definetly on "island time". So when it is posted that the activities office opens at 7 and no one is there until 7:30, don't be surprised. That was probably the biggest adjustment. But again, you're on vacation, relax :)

“5 day Captain Morgan getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Planned a family vacation for my husband and myself, along with our four grown children. We decided on a three bedroom condo which turned out to be the perfect set-up for us. Three very large bedrooms and three baths...then a common area with couch seating, a large dining table and a huge kitchen. A very large deck with a view of the ocean, too! Over all Captain Morgan's worked out well for us. The staff was VERY friendly and eager to assist. Our family had a fun time together. Just a few things to share just in case you are interested in some details that could make a difference in your stay.

Pros- the condo was very nice as stated. All new. The staff very nice and eager to please. The grounds neatly kept. 3 pools all close by. Wonderful dining in the restaurant...we didn't have a bad meal. A little grocery with anything you might need for your stay. Water taxi's easy to get for trips into town for sightseeing, shopping, or dining.

Cons- our condo building was not completely finished and construction work started very loudly first thing in the morning and throughout the day in the space right above our condo. No sleeping in or quiet time during the day while this was going on. Annoying. The deck hot tub didn't work, and the only bath tub did not drain and therefore couldn't be used. We were attacked by biting bugs every evening and night when outdoors...and came home with bites all over that itched like crazy. We had been warned by the staff about this before arrival (they told us to bring insect repellent...which we did use with no good results). Not a lot to do at this resort. Activities were coordinated at the front desk and were done away from the resort, via boat trips into town. Cave tubing, temples, etc were not available near this resort as stated in their advertisement...these take place on the mainland...quite a long trip from the resort.

Diving trip to the Blue Hole was well worth the 3 hour boat ride to and from. If you're a diver, definitely do this. Also snorkeling along the reef, at shark alley is recommended. There is not much real snorkeling close to the resort...everything is a boat ride away. There is no swimming off the beach in front of the resort...too much sea grass! Everything you might want to do relies on hiring some kind of boat service...taxi, tour, etc. If you like to lounge by the pool in the sunshine this is the perfect place. Not a good place for little kids...and now that I think about it, we didn't see anyone at the resort with children.

“Wonderful as Usual”

This was by far not our first trip to Belize and Captain Morgan's and it will not be our last! We visited the resort when we first visited Belize 10 or so years ago and bought a timeshare on the spot. We have other timeshares that we trade to go to this resort but will never trade this one. We always feel welcome and love the atmosphere. We have stayed in quite a few different rooms and they are beautiful and done tastefully, The staff has always seemed willing to accommodate any of our needs. I can not wait to go again in a couple of weeks and see other guests that keep coming back!

“A Week at Cap't. Morgans”

On our first trip to Belize we spend on week in a timeshare unit at Captain Morgan's Retreat. The accommodations and experience we very good across the board and for the price it was excellent. This is a great resort for mid-island. It is a long, but fun, walk to and from San Pedro. We used the water taxi and caught rides with Cap't. Morgans boat.

I would stay here again on a future trip without hesitation.
