I returned to BB the first week of May and the place was very empty. Perhaps, this was due to the start of the off season. As mentioned before in an earlier post, I concur that yes, the pool was cloudy and the smaller part wasn't even filled. A bit of a disappointment! However, on the plus side....no more generators and was quiet!
We started out in the penthouse however, due to wind keeping us up at night we asked to be moved downstairs to a quieter location on the ground floor. No problems with this request. I have noticed that the master bdrms do not seem to get as cool as the other rooms in the condos. Therefore, since I hate being hot, I stayed in the smaller of the two rooms which was perfect. The beds are still the best I've slept in and the service impeccable. Speaking of service....Jessie makes the best pina colada on the island!
The rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious.
Ronal arranged a sailing/snorkeling trip and OMG...it was the best of the best! Don't hesitate to ask him to arrange this trip for you...it was a private sail and reasonably priced. Food was excellent, we snorkeled in places that the party boats don't and had our own private boat with plenty of beer and rum :)
We did the cave tubing which was worth the trip and the money....I recommend it highly specially if you have children. We also went up to the Mayan Ruin the same day which was near Guatemala. It's an all day trip but worth taking. I advise taking the plane to Belize City instead of the boat. It's faster!
The boat service to and from San Pedro was suitable for our needs. This isn't the place to stay if you want to be near the action of nightlife or restaurants. It's only a five minute boat ride and remained on Schedule most of the time we were there. We ate at the restaurant and discovered there are other choices besides Indian food. I had the fish cakes which I recommend. There are also burgers and other American choices as well as the Indian dishes. I didn't think it was over priced for the quality of the food. Way above average compared to other restaurants in San Pedro. My other favorite restaurant is the Sunset Grill to the direct right as you get off the boat at the San Pedro dock.
My advice about staying at this resort is patience! You're on island time, and things take time. But this is true all over Central America you're not in the states anymore. The resort is also located on the lagoon and not ocean front. The views? Well the only time I was in my condo was when I was sleeping so I didn't really care about the view. However, I did like the views of the lagoon when I did look around. This resort is for people who want to get away from it all to relax and de -stress. Yet, be close enough to San Pedro by a short boat ride if one wants to go there.
No TV when we were there which was fine by me. I never watch TV on Vacation. We did have a radio so were able to listen to music. We had phones to the front desk and unlike another review...ours worked.
I like this resort so much that I'm considering buying one of the lower level condos. I will be returning in the near future.
