“Wonderful Hotel, Great Staff, NICE Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We went to Alpharetta for our daughter's 8th birthday. We found a deal online through Marriot's website where breakfast was included in the price...this was not a small continental breakfast, but a BIG buffet with waffle and omelets made on hand by chefs. The hotel was very clean and the staff was great. There are packages for children...American Girl and Knights (Medieval Times). We will be going back to this Marriot!

“Below Average for a Marriot...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I stayed there last night for meeting in the morning. The staff was friendly but the lobby smelled awful. It was like old curl gel that people used in the 80s, VERY STRONG. In the morning at breakfast I could still catch a hint of it in the resturant. The food was good. The rooms were dated but comfortable. Carpet was drab and dirty. Shower head was the only real plus. This is a great location if you are coming for a quick visit to HP or ADP. Otherwise I would avoid this hotel.

“Just disappointed...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stay at Marriott properties quite often - so much so that I have elite status. Unfortunately, I have to say this was the most disappointing Marriott property I have ever stayed at. I was looking for a hotel in the Alpharetta area and found several that were less than half the price. I booked the Marriott because I expected a certain quality - especially because it was at LEAST twice as much as other properties that I might have booked - and was willing to pay the much higher price for the quality I anticipated. I was incredibly disappointed. This is an OLD property and it shows. Upon entering the hotel I was knocked down by the air freshener. What are they hiding? The lobby area was nice, but once I got off the elevator and entered the hallways to the rooms I was suspicious - mauve and green carpet. Then I entered my room and disappoinment washed over me. The rooms are VERY dated - especially the bathrooms. Other than the flat screen TVs, these are OLD rooms. The bathrooms really tell the age - nothing in the bathroom has been updated in at least 20 years. And.. watch out! You will knock your shin on the toilet almost every time when you walk in the bathroom. I have never seen a toilet so close to the bathroom door. There is just an inch or less clearance between the bathroom door and toilet.

Even the concierge lounge is fine, but nothing at all special and very outdated.

The staff is great. I hate to give a bad review just because they are exceptional. They had my room ready with all of the extras on my list and they are very hospitable and helpful. But this is NOT a place that I look forward to coming back to at the end of the day. I am not happy that I am staying at this hotel and would NEVER rebook here.

Sad.. I really do like Marriott properties. I just wish this one had lived up to the price and my expectation of their usual standard.

“rang in the new year here.”

I've been visiting with the marriott since I was a kid traveling with my family; so my expectations were high. I was excited to ring in the new year here, as I know it to be a wonderful place.
As my husband and I familiarized ourselves we were surprised to realize the room did not have a mini-fridge, inconvenient to say the least. Another disappointment was when we realized they did not supply the room with blinds, they just had the sheer curtains... so we got no sleep and I could not let down my guard all night. I felt like people could see into my room. The relaxation factor was literally out the window. when I told the employee she did not seem to care.

I must say the bedding was amazing! I bought myself a pillow as soon as I got home.

overall, sadly disappointed.

Room Tip: the entrance is a bit awkward from the direction I was coming from as they don't have a visible...

“American Girl Getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I booked a one night stay for myself, my daughter-in-law, and my 2 granddaughters, ages 6 and 7 as my Christmas present to them. I wanted to take them to the American Girl Store in Atlanta, and when I discovered the Marriott had an "American Girl Package", I thought perhaps it might add to our experience. Well, did it ever!! From the moment we checked in, the staff at the Marriott made the hotel experience something my little granddaughters will never forget. There is a special American Girl check-in area, roped off in pink, with a pink carpet and pink step stools. The girls were asked to walk the carpet one at a time with their best "diva walk", and then given personal letters with their names and a coupon for a snack item at the hotel snack bar, or a free sundae at the hotel restaurant. The front desk staff truly went out of her way to make the little ones feel special, and seemed to be having as much fun as the girls!

Included in this package is special PINK-themed room decor.....there was a pink duvet cover on the bed, pink pillowcases, pink towels in the bathroom...even a pink beanbag chair, pink alarm clock, pink trashbaskets and pink pencil and paper!! There are American Girl bathrobes (they ask the girls' sizes when you make your reservation) and darling American Girl matching robes. These are for your use during your stay....however, may be purchased (see option below.) You also get an American Girl doll "travel bed" -- which was a memory foam kind of bed covered with a plushy fabric, with a separate coverlet and very nice doll pillow embroidered with the American Girl logo. My granddaughters were thrilled with these as they can be folded to convert it from a long bed into a "chair". Time will tell, but they seem to be durably made. In the evening, milk and cookies are delivered to the room for the girls and dolls.
An additional option, which I did purchase, was called the "Super Star Package". For an additional $99 per child, it gives you the child's bathrobe, the doll's robe, doll bunny slippers (Soooo cute!), a tiny "real" board book to read to your doll, a pink lunchbag (with some "star" themed girly stuff inside), and an American Girl doll nightgown (pink, of course).

Included with the regular hotel package is the breakfast buffet for 2 adults and 2 children. It was a very nice buffet, with numerous hot choices (eggs, oatmeal, potatoes, turkey sausage and more), cold cereals, fresh cut fruit, pastries and the option for a chef-made-to-order omelet or waffle. The only lack was yogurt, which would have been a good addition, at least for my granddaughters who eat pretty light first thing in the morning.

The hotel had a beautiful indoor pool area, which we did not have time to use.
It is a straight shot, maybe 3 miles, down the North Point Parkway, to the North Point Mall where the American Girl Store is located. Even with holiday traffic, it was less than a 10 minute drive. The front desk staff, ever ready, had printed directions from the hotel to the store for us.

One other word on the room -- we had a room with 2 doubles -- very comfortable mattresses, and I am very finicky about this. Also, very good room temperature (not too warm) and quiet AC/heat.

We would definitely stay here again when visiting the Alpharetta area.
