“SOMEWHERE IN TIME ...A place RICH in HISTORY !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

If you are looking for a place to go without building a time machine. Than the GIBSON INN in Apalachicola,FL. is the place to go. The minute you step into the inn your time travel begins. It already feels like it is the turn of the century and I mean 1900. The rich history surounds you and you feel as if you just stepped back in time. The rooms are charming and clean yet the bath room has all the modern things you will want to have but tastfully coverd in decorations of the past. The bed was large and comfortable. Our 3 night stay at the inn was a wonderfull trip into the past. The people who work there where warm and welcomed us into their home. Tha bar has an old world charm and the drinks are well made. The Gibson Inn reminds me of the Inn in the movie Somewhere in Time with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve. If it's ROMANCE and LOVE you are looking for try a weekend at the GIBSON INN !! :-)

“One of the best weekends we have spent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My wife and I chose Apalachicola for our first long weekend of the year and had never been to the area before. We looked at all the B&Bs as well as motels and chose the Gibson because of the location and their 3 night special-stay 2 and get the 3rd night free. We also planned on getting tickets to the Patsy Cline show at the Dixie Theater. Initially we were told the Patsy Cline Show was sold out. We wrote the Gibson asking for help locating tickets. PJ from the Gibson called twice to 1) say she had put the word out and 2) say that the Dixie had tickets set aside for us. In addition the Dixie called us to say that the tickets were waiting for us. How is that for service? When we checked in PJ greeted us warmly and wrote a note to the bar to give us free anniversary drinks. The bar was great-good crowd, prices fair, and OK pub food. Dinning room was closed. Search for new chef ongoing. Blues and Jazz on the CD's. The 3 days was outstanding both at the Gibson and in Apalachicola. We already have our rooms for the Halloween Murder Mystery Weekend in October. Oh yes, room was clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast each morning. The Gibson is our place and it should be yours.

Room Tip: The room locations and a picture of each are on the website.

“Apalachicola”

The Inn needs a major update all around! The electricity was a huge issue off and on during the Thanksgiving holiday. The food was horrendous. It's really unfortunate because the Gibson Inn is such a integral part of Apalachicola's history but someone needs to take charge!! We visit the area often and will not be back to the Gibson Inn.

I am sorry that this guest had a negative experience. On Friday, November 25th, the Gibson Inn had a power failure due to a blown transformer on a Progress Energy pole. This left us without power from 7:15am until 1pm. At no other time during the holidays were we without power. The staff worked hard to make sure everyone was comfortable. We were unaware of any guest’s dissatisfaction.

“Quaint and wonderful example of 'Old Florida' style property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

This Inn is a historic landmark in the centre of a very pretty and historic Floridian town. The rooms are all very different but beautifully furnished, some with four poster beds. It is spotlessly clean and offers every comfort. There is an excellent restaurant and bar and the reception and bar staff are friendly, warm and helpful. happy hour in the bar is pure joy and frequented by many local characters. The porches have beautiful traditional swing seats and rockers where you can sip a beer or cocktail and watch the sunset or the people. If you are very lucky you may get to meet the famous Lucky-Dog and her thespian human; this will guarantee a very entertaining interlude. I thoroughly recommend the Gibson Inn it's a must for all visitors to Apalchicola. From the Harrisons in the UK.

The Gibson Inn could sure use some updating, BUT the staff is wonderful. They offset everything else!

Room Tip: We were in the back upper unit because we had our dog with us. Good location for coming and going.
