“Consulate - First Class”

Spent 2 nights in the Port Captain suite at The Consulate in Apalachicola for my 65th birthday. Tastefully decorated, comfortable quarters were immaculate, thoughtfully furnished. Nice view of the river & shrimp boating activity, easy walking distance to outstanding restaurants. We're native Floridians & found the seafood to be the absolute best ever including The Owl and Tamara's Floridita for dinners, & Boss Oyster open air on the water for lunch. Another great lunch in nearby East Point, FL on the gulf along highway U.S. 98 is simply named "That Place on 98."

“great stay”

Had a great time on our anniversary. This was just what we needed. The seafood is great. There is not much to do outside of resting and a little shopping if you are not fishing. For fishing I can see this place would be fantastic. As for the Consulate suites they were very nice and very comfortable.

“GREAT LOCATION and wonderful room!”

Loved Apalachicola (we ate the BEST seafood every meal - right off the boats!) and the Consulate Suites are in a wonderful location, right on the waterfront and surrounded by great restaurant and shops - all within walking distance. You're staying "in town" so if you're looking for quiet solitude, you should go to the beach or country. The rooms are actually furnished apartments and were clean, cute, and well appointed. The manager, Virginia seemed nice and helpful, but does not stay on site, so it you need anything for your room, you need to catch her between 11 and 3 when she is there cleaning the rooms.

“Lovely surprise”

Touring the coast we arrived at the end of a long day. We were delighted to find such a comfortable, well located, very attractive apartment. It really worked out well. Dinner around the corner at Tamara's (with mother/father in-law and with our 5/7 yr old boys).

“Nice”

My family (2 adults, 2 teenagers) spent several nights at the Consulate Suites in April '04. We stayed in the suite called The Consul. These units are situated on the beautiful Apalachicola River, over a retail shop.

Our suite was very spacious, pretty much a two bedroom, two bath apartment. The kitchen was very clean (as was the rest of the unit) and well equipped. The suite also had a separate laundry room with a washer and dryer. The decor was quite nice and I particularly liked that the master bedroom had a separate TV.

There is plenty of adjacent parking and, since the Consulate is located in a very convenient location, many restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance. If you are looking for a nice restaurant with fresh seafood prepared a little more creatively, I would recommend Caroline's.

The only downside to the Consulate is it tends to be a bit noisy (because of its location), but overall it is a nice choice. Apalachicola is a charming place and not at all like the Florida that most people know.
