“Beautifully styled and comfortable suites”

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our rather spontaneous one night stay at the Consulate Suites. We contacted Virginia by phone from the road, booked the Attache Suite and arrived late that evening to find it was beautifully appointed room - more like a luxury apartment - with a garden terrace attached. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, amenities quality and everything about our stay was a delight. The town itself is charming and walkable with great shops and restaurants. Higly recommend a visit to Apalachicola and a stay at the Consulate Suites.

“Great accommodations.”

We were delighted to happen upon the "Consulate" by chance during a tour of Apalachicola. It's a gem of a place, located adjacent to the waterfront in a historic two-story building. There are several suites to choose from. We spent three nights in the "Attache" which over looks the rear garden from a second story deck. The suite is well-furnished, includes a kitchen area, and has exposed brick walls and hardwood floors. The rooms were spotless. The first floor is occupied by an attractive, up-scale clothing and accessories shop, the "Grady." Apalachicola is a perfect place for a relaxing visit without crowds. Marvelous seafood, fresh off the boat, is available at numerous attractive resturants in the historic district.

“Great Place for Families”

The Consulate Suites was a great place for a quiet family mini vacation. As new grandparents we enjoyed visiting with our son and daughter-in-law and watching our grandson toddle around on the beautiful wood floors. Sailboat watching was calming from the spacious river front balcony. The Consul Suite, where we stayed, is a 1300 square foot apartment with two bedrooms and two baths and a large great room with sitting and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen. There are three other suites at the Consulate, one larger and two smaller, but all sleep at least four people. August is very hot in Florida, but we were comfortable and quiet. A grocery store is close by for in suite dining and all the fantastic seafood restaurants are within walking distance. We especially enjoyed the Owl Cafe and Tamara's. On our last day we were pleasantly awakened by a carillon chiming "Oh What a Beautiful Morning". It was!

“Consulate - First Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2006

Spent 2 nights in the Port Captain suite at The Consulate in Apalachicola for my 65th birthday. Tastefully decorated, comfortable quarters were immaculate, thoughtfully furnished. Nice view of the river & shrimp boating activity, easy walking distance to outstanding restaurants. We're native Floridians & found the seafood to be the absolute best ever including The Owl and Tamara's Floridita for dinners, & Boss Oyster open air on the water for lunch. Another great lunch in nearby East Point, FL on the gulf along highway U.S. 98 is simply named "That Place on 98."

“great stay”

Had a great time on our anniversary. This was just what we needed. The seafood is great. There is not much to do outside of resting and a little shopping if you are not fishing. For fishing I can see this place would be fantastic. As for the Consulate suites they were very nice and very comfortable.
