“comfortable rooms and beautiful views”

We head over to Apalach a couple times a year and always stay at the River Inn. The rooms are always clean, the beds (always get kings) are comfortable and the view of the river is peaceful and inspiring. It's worth the extra $20 to get a second floor room. The balconies, newly screened, are perfect for watching the river and bountiful wildlife as the rooms are practically right over the water. A couple things to note: This is a no frills hotel; no microwave, mini fridge, iron, hairdryers or wi-fi. However....you can pick up an iron and board at the front desk; I also saw a lady ask for and receive a hair dryer so those must be available as well. Wi-fi is available in a small room next to the office; used it every morning with no problems. Large ice machines are at the end of the outside corridors; we usually bring a small cooler in the room for drinks, etc. Check their website before you go; during slow times they will offer $20 off room rates (Trip advisor coupon), free breakfast per person per night at Caroline's with fantastic choices, all delicious, and free drinks at the lounge. It really is a great deal and we enjoyed all of it.

“The sunrise was awesome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The Inn is a rustic and cozy bed & breakfast on the river. We were comfortable and enjoyed the nearby shopping and dining at the Grill. But the morning was the best. I stepped out on our second floor screened-in private balcony to watch the sunrise. I turned back into our room and yelled "Dolphins!". Within a second, the whole family was on the balcony watching big and little dolphins swin right in front of us. Amazing! The pelicans & gulls were fun to watch too. Our free breakfast was huge and very good. All the people we met were very sweet. Talking to Sandra at Petunia's pet shop was a treat. We are new fans of Apalach!

Just like the sunrise signals the new beginning on terra firma it triggers the same new beginning on the water. After nights slumber at the first inclings of dawn things begin to happen. The fishing birdsstretch their wings and begin to peer at the water waiting for a clear vision of their first meal of the new day. Tthe dolphins gear up for the sights sounds and smell of this days first meal. On the pristine Apalachicola River you can see and feel this daily ritual begin. The dawn signals the silent excurisions of the shrimp boats slowly meandering by to seek their days catch in the bay. the water is interupted as the fish rise to the surface for a meal or to escape those which want to make them their meal The wonders and natures chorus of the aquatic day's dawning are yours to share from the one of a kind Apalachicola River Inn. Don't sleep in or you will miss theb est part of your stay. Something really special is happening on this river. Gaze skyward and watch the sunrise smell the salt air. Caroline's River Dining is grinding your fresh coffee grab a cup and sit on the balonies while we prerare to set up the restaurant for your complimentary breakfast. You deserve a hearty breakfast. Relaxing amongst the wonders of nature, seeing, listening, smelling, is hard work. Thanks for the visit, hurry back Caroline and Larry owners

“Not a lot of choices but only need this place”

Not five stars but comfortable and relaxing. Private screened balcony overlooking the river, good restaurants and neat shopping within a block, great place to just get away. Looking forward to going back. Must have breakfast at Caroline's!

Room Tip: Upstairs if you can.

“We love this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Room 8 is so funky and cute! They allow dogs yet it doesn't smell "doggy" and is very clean! The room was quiet, the bed comfortable and the proximity to everything perfect! I would highly recommend this place. It is a little damp in the room because the room sits over the water but who cares? It's clean, comfortable and cute. The breakfast is huge. We could not believe the quality! It's seriously gourmet! The front desk staff are "florida tough" but don't be dismayed by that. The "place" is very welcoming and wonderful. You gotta try the oyster omelet. It's great!

Room Tip: Well, we loved room 8 a lot. I assume most of the rooms are uniquely decorated..

“A wonderful experience!”

I recently spent a night at the Apalachicola River Inn and impressed with the entire experience. The hotel has an old time charm complete with old time service and friendly staff.

Both restuarants were excellent and the lounge was full of interesting guests both local and tourists. Breakfast in provided at no charge and it was fantastic. Not your usual continental affair but rather a full assorment of wonder meals you order from the menu.

I highly recommend the Apalachicola River Inn when you plan your next trip to the Florida pan handle.
