A group of us from all over the states get together once a year at the end of January and selected the Coombs House Inn this year. What a delight! Some of us had a private room and others shared. Arrangements for all were very nice. One of the best beds I've ever slept in. One of the rooms had a parlor where our group could meet privately, but there was always plenty of room in the main house to gather.
Friday night we were fortunate to have Lady Lynn at the complimentary wine tasting and she told us all about the reconstruction project and history of the property, which enhanced our stay.
We walked everywhere and enjoyed our visits to the parks, the Raney House, Orman House and John Gorrie State Museum, as well as along the waterfront. The shops are plentiful, friendly and unique. Our favorite restaurants were the Owl Cafe (Owl Tap Room, too), Caroline's Dining on the River, Up the Creek Raw Bar and Hole In The Wall. Oysters and other great seafood everywhere!
A highlight was a trip to the Dixie Theatre where we saw an Elvis impersonator along with a sold out crowd. The venue changes constantly, but if you want tickets, call or go to the theater first thing!
All in all a terrific weekend for our little group.
