“Clean, comfortable hotel with an exceptional staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I contacted this Hampton Inn because I had a bad experience at another hotel and needed rooms immediately. . Steve, the GM, was so understanding and offered to help me. What a lifesaver! At first I was hesitate because I was traveling with a group of teens and the hotel has outside entrances but once I got there, all my worries went away. Douglas, at the Front Desk, was so friendly and helpful and Steve was also there to greet me. The property is very clean and our rooms opened out on a beautiful landscaped courtyard and pool area. The hot breakfast was very good and had a nice variety of items. All of the staff members we encountered were happy and gave out very positive vibes. You could tell that they liked working at this hotel. This property will undergo a major renovation in 2012 and once this is complete, I believe that the Hampton Inn North will be not only the BEST Hampton Inn in the area but the best overall value of any of their competition.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the courtyard and pool area.

“Excellent Customer Service/Shabby for Hampton Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Pros: Customer Service was outstanding! I-4's Exit 92 at Altamonte Springs (Orlando North) has a lot of options for restaurants. The rooms are a bit larger than most hotels these days. Our room had a nice large crisp flat screen TV. The hot breakfasts were good. Linens were very clean. Small fridge. Cons: This is not up to date like other Hamptons. Had no indoor hallways. A few sketchy clientele. The carpets are very old and dirty and the furniture outdated. The tub squeaked with loose springs underneath and there were ants in the room.

Room Tip: Get courtyard rooms or NOT FACING I-4 which is loud.

My name is Stephen Colkett and I am the General Manager of the Hampton Inn Altamonte Springs. I received your review today and wanted to thank you for taking the time to provide me with valuable feedback about your stay. I appreciate all feedback, good or bad, as I use it to improve our hotel.
I am happy to see that my staff took care of you. We strive to provide our guests the perfect guest experience and I am glad my staff provided excellent customer service.
I am sorry to see that there were items that you were not impressed with such as the age and style of the property.
We are a unique Hampton as were are one of only a few remaining exterior corridor Hamptons left. We have plans to begin construction on site this year on a new Hampton Inn & Suites. We are very excited and hope you will consider us in the future.
We will continue to deliver the same great customer service so if you liked us now, I guarantee you will love us then.

“Not up to the "usual" Hampton Inn Level”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My wife and I used our HHonors points for a short (one night) stay in the Orlando area before catching a flight back home. We were able to use "Point Stretcher" reward points for our stay. I now know why.

As noted in previous ratings, this is an older hotel with exterior hallways. The stairs leading to our second floor room had small holes where the rust had eaten through. The room was a narrow, dark room (with dark carpeting) and only one window (at the front). The bathroom was very small and showing its age.

On the plus side, the staff was friendly and the large breakfast area was up to the usual Hampton Inn standards.

A sign at the check-in notes that there are plans to build a new Hampton Inn in the near future (2012). I think that Hampton should expedite this process by tearing down the current hotel ASAP and starting construction on a new (and improved) facility.

“Not up to Hampton brand name”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Stayed 2 nights in late December 2011 to attend a college bowl game. Both the exterior and the rooms reflect that this is an older motel and therefore not a typical Hampton.

On the positive side, the desk staff was friendly and efficient. The motel is located conveniently adjacent to I-4, however as my door opened to the interior pool area, I didn't hear highway noise. A refrigerator at first appeared to be absent but then was found in a cabinet under the sink counter. Breakfast is offered however I didn't have the chance to check it out. The room lacked a microwave, which required a stroll to the dining area adjacent to the office to heat something up.

The main negative was that I felt like I paid a little more to have a Hampton level of accommodation, only to find a more 2.5 star level of motel like an older LaQuinta Inn. Hampton should take advantage of the good location to build a new facility that is a hotel rather than a motel and more of a credit to the Hampton brand name.

“A Cut Below”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Hampton Inns have been our "default" hotel choice over the past 10 years. We could count on a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. This location wasn't your basic Hampton. It was probably another (cheaper) motel brand before Hampton acquired it. All the rooms opened to the outside (only the second Hampton like this that we could recall). While some may consider it a convenience to have your car parked 5 feet outside of your room, we prefer the quieter inside entrances. The room was not as large or quiet as a typical Hampton and the bathroom was very small. That being said, this was still a Hampton. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff was professional, friendly and helpful, and they had one of the best run breakfast services we have seen in a while. Plus, activity is under way to replace the existing, old buildings.

Room Tip: Rooms that open to the courtyard may be quieter than those opening to the parking lot.
