I made a reservation with my visa card. when my wife and I arrived, I presented my american express card. Around 9:20 in the evening the phone rang in the room. a man identifying himself with american express merchant services stated that they were following up to verfy that the card was in my possession. I told him that I would go to the front desk, and as I was hanging up on him I heard him saying that I did not need to go to the front desk. I called american express security and gave them my card information. They told me there was no reason for anyone to be calling me. The front desk agent, jessica, was asked for my numbers as well and to her credit she did not give them to the guy. The guy gave a security company name, a case number, and a phone number. I had american express security check the number and it came back to a mechanical or machine shop in texas. When I checked in the General Manager, ( I was told his name was Maurice), was there. The next day upon checking out, he was not there, even though I stayed until 12:45. So I asked the Assistant Manager to get me in touch with the Hotel security department. To my surprise, she said the hotel does not have a security department. Then I asked her to have the General Manager come into the property, he did not come in. The General Manager never spoke to me or communicated with me in any way, even though he was told, according to the assistant manager, of a serious security issue. I then called the Hotel chains' customer service department and asked to be conected to the corporate security deparment. My surprise hit a new level when she said, you guessed it, "the company does not have a security department." I will choose in the future to avoid Homestead, Extended stay, Extended deluxe, and any other divisions that they own or purchase.
