I fly in and out of Denver frequently staying in many different hotels. On this occasion I had been knocked around by the airlines with many delays, reroutes and lost bags. I called my husband and asked him to please book me a room anywhere they have in suite movies and room service. He found this Hilton and with it having all of my requests and trusting the Hilton name booked it. Upon arrival the staff was super friendly and were aware of my travel wows (my husband has a big mouth) and sent me on my way to my room. What they did not tell me was that the hotel was under renovation and unaware to the front desk staff they put me in a room where they had begun but not finished the paint job. So thinking all the rooms can"t be like this I gathered my things and returned to the front desk explaining that the room was a mess and they were painting the room next door, and since I was going to be there for two days without my bags I planned on spending a lot of time in my room, would they please move me. They did, but to a deserted floor that was under full construction, all doors including the one they gave me a key for were wide open with the curtains in bags outside in the doors of each room. I decide to go into my room anyway. There were paint chips on the floor and some of the furniture was out of place. Back down to the front desk and I frankly say to them "do you have any rooms that are actually put together?" The MOD decides to send another staff member up to check on another room which she reports is ok and I guess the third time was the charm because this room was nice and even had a nice view. Here is what I will never understand about front desk staff, why not put people in your best rooms first? They did end up comping my first night which was nice and like I said before the staff continued to be super friendly. The restaurant could use some work too so I hope that is on the remodel plan including their breakfast menu:-( Not sure I would return here, but I will continue to stay with Hilton, they train their staff right and sometimes a smiling face is all you need.
