We stayed at the Little Nell for 4 nights during a long weekend getaway.
Prior to booking I had heard it was the “best” place to stay in Aspen, so without hesitation booked a one -bedroom suite. The room itself was nice. Maybe I am just spoiled but I didn’t find the room to be overly impressive. It was clean, neat and basic. Yes, it had a fireplace, wet bar as well as honor bar. Unfortunately though we had a “town view” suite.
The reason we were in Colorado was to attend a concert/fundraiser at a local saloon, which was located within walking distance. A definite perk. In fact, there were a large amount of cafes, shops and restaurants within a 5-10 min stroll and during the warm afternoon sunshine this is highly suggested.
The Little Nell was very very impressive in one element and that was room service. I have to commend the entire hotel staff for going out of their way to make us feel comfortable and for addressing our dietary needs- or should I say- non-dietary needs. We were on vacation so were yearning for the sweet stuff. Even though cookies and other goodies were not on the “late night” menu, the room service hostess and chef did their best to put together a huge tray of sweets and goodies. It was awesome.
The pool was nice. One of the days we were sitting out, classically, three kids were playing and yelling "Marco Polo". Really. There was a pool attendant, and didnt seem to know how to handle them.
If we are ever heading back to Aspen we would return to the Little Nell but we would opt for the next better room…..AND remember our headphones for the pool area.
