“Aspen in the Summertime”

We stayed at the Little Nell for 4 nights during a long weekend getaway.

Prior to booking I had heard it was the “best” place to stay in Aspen, so without hesitation booked a one -bedroom suite. The room itself was nice. Maybe I am just spoiled but I didn’t find the room to be overly impressive. It was clean, neat and basic. Yes, it had a fireplace, wet bar as well as honor bar. Unfortunately though we had a “town view” suite.

The reason we were in Colorado was to attend a concert/fundraiser at a local saloon, which was located within walking distance. A definite perk. In fact, there were a large amount of cafes, shops and restaurants within a 5-10 min stroll and during the warm afternoon sunshine this is highly suggested.
The Little Nell was very very impressive in one element and that was room service. I have to commend the entire hotel staff for going out of their way to make us feel comfortable and for addressing our dietary needs- or should I say- non-dietary needs. We were on vacation so were yearning for the sweet stuff. Even though cookies and other goodies were not on the “late night” menu, the room service hostess and chef did their best to put together a huge tray of sweets and goodies. It was awesome.

The pool was nice. One of the days we were sitting out, classically, three kids were playing and yelling "Marco Polo". Really. There was a pool attendant, and didnt seem to know how to handle them.

If we are ever heading back to Aspen we would return to the Little Nell but we would opt for the next better room…..AND remember our headphones for the pool area.

Room Tip: Next time we will be sure to ask for a mountain view.Street or city view doesnt cut it.

“Best Place to Stay in Aspen”

We arrived via the hotel shutlle from the airport with a dozen other guests. The hotel staff personally greeted us and within 5 minutes we were checked in and in our room. Very organized and professional staff, also very pleasant and accommodating during our whole stay. Ski valet took care of everything with getting equipment and lift tickets. The room (town view suite) was awesome. Updated decor, great heated tile floor in bathroom, balcony, fireplace.....spectacular! Room service was timely and accurate. House cars were always available (even at 2am)! The Ajax Tavern was a great place to hangout and people watch. Stayed at other hotels in Aspen, and likely won't come back to Aspen unless rooms are available at the Little Nell!

“A legend for a reason”

I had always dreamed of staying at The Little Nell and finally got the opportunity on a recent fancy work trip. From the moment I stepped through the front door to sad day when I had to check-out, I have never experienced such an exceptional level of service. Every single person I encountered was warm, gracious and helpful...without being annoying. The hotel itself is lovely and couldn't be in a better location, literally at the base of Aspen/Ajax Mountain. Rooms are generously sized and luxurious without being ornate. I loved having a fireplace. Food is phenomenal and there are wonderful little touches like fresh baked cookies and hot apple cider that appear in the afternoons--the perfect welcome after a hard day of skiing. It's no wonder this hotel is a legend.

Room Tip: They are all good.

John Speers has organized this property to be a model for high end hotels and resorts to follow when it comes to service!
I travel for work and also pleasure every year about four months and stay in so many different properties.
This hotel has the top service I have seen anywhere on the continent.
Thank you for a wonderful time!
Will be back in the next few years!

Great location! Only ski in ski out in Aspen. The level of service at this property is outstanding!
Right from the minute you pull your car up to the time you check out...all the staff are so professional! They have really trained the staff in every category to the highest standards.
Very impressive! I loved the ski valet! You can even have them put your ski boots on and off for you!
Great place to stay to be spoiled a little!
