My boyfriend and I have stayed here a few times. Never a bad visit. The hotel is a block away from the water and ocean front stores and restaurants. The hotel has underground parking. The decor has a rustic feel. There is a wine and appetizer hour in the lobby every day I believe. You sit down at a large desk to check in which is very nice and welcoming. There is a kitchen stocked with snacks and beverages you can buy on a honor basis, they ask you put the dollar in the jar...so cute. There is also a huge bookshelf full of movies you can take to your room for free anytime you would like. There is also a cd collection and books to look through. Upon entering your room you are instantly in romance mode. There is a corner fireplace and large spa tub in the room. The shower has two shower heads for a couples shower. The best thing is the welcome basket full of snacks, water, and soda placed in your room..for free! The bed is huge and comfortable. The tv is ridiculously large. And the console under the tv has plates, bowls, silverware, and glasses if you choose to take food into your room..which I thought was a wonderful touch. We have eaten at the Custom House Restaurant which is just on the next street. It has great food and beautiful ocean views. Stay here for a romantic weekend!!

I can't say enough about this hotel. They have great amenities, the staff is awesome and helpful, and there are so many perks! They have added free pie every night, which my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed. Gotta love that Ollalaberry! We even got a room with a balcony which we ate our chocolate croissant on in the morning (another perk). This hotel is truely one of a kind and they really know what they are doing and how to take care of their guests. We definitely see many trips in the future.

Despite living in CA for 40 years, I'd never been to Avila Beach until last weekend. Now I realize why - I must have blinked while driving past!

It's a teeny tiny town and Avila La Fonda is far and away the best hotel in the area.
The ambience is relaxing with the painted tiles and flowing waterfalls, and the staff is simultaneously attentive and mellow, which I have found to be an elusive combination in most of my travels.

This was my first experience with a Murphey bed, but it actually worked well in that it was comfortable and provided room for a full kitchen and sitting room.

Maid service was performed promptly, there was always free food and drink, and the beach is a very short block away.

What's not to like?

Very nice staff. Beautiful Spanish style. Lovely wine social. Great room with large bathroom and separate hot tub. Definitely want to go again.
