“Perfect rooms, perfect service, perfect for bike riding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We have traveled and stayed at most of the hotels for the past 30 years and lucked in on this jewel of a hotel. Wonderful decor, and just so darn cozy. One of the few hotel lobbys I would actually go out and have a cup of coffee and read. We went for bike riding weekend and as luck would have it, it is on a bike path that leads directly to Avila Beach and Port San Luis. We also are avid tennis players and access to the Avila Bay Tennis Club is included. Rooms are beautifully decorated with very comfortable bed. Bathroom is huge and includes large jacuzzi tube w/ thick robes included. Like someone else said the tub is high and you have to be careful getting into. We loved the fireplace and the DVD as we rented a RedBox dvd and watched it later that night. Free wifi made it easy to use our ipad and look for dinner. It does have a great refridgerator also, if it only had a microwave. Not a negative, but I found it strage as the lighting, walls, and furniture are very nice the tv is a rather small tube. But on the other hand, this is a very romantic hotel, and "why are you watching TV" should be the question. One other thing is it has a small patio accessed through sliding glass door.

“Lovely hotel, perfect rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

The bed was very comfortable, rooms are beautiful with an electric fireplace and frig. Beautiful lounge, looks every bit as nice as in the pictures. Did not hear any noise at night. Staff very helpful. Room very clean. There are tiny drawbacks. If you have trouble getting in and out of tubs, ask for a room with a shower. The walls of the tubs are quite tall. I'm 5'5" and I was afraid of falling. There are no gripper bars. WiFi was spotty. The breakfast is oatmeal, bagels, toast, a few cereals, tea, coffee, milk, juice, fresh fruit was apples and bananas. Pastries are prepackaged and taste like they are from a grocery store. No yogurt or eggs. Also, there is not much nearby. It's not near a town or many restaurants, it is also not on the beach.

Room Tip: The walls of the bathtub are very tall. If you are short or afraid of falling, ask for a room with a...

“Great hidden spot near the California coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I spent one night here on a drive between the Bay Area and L.A. Definitely would return again. Fair price and good amenities including the use of a well-equipped fitness club. Nice, quiet rooms each with a fireplace and small balcony. Continental (cold) breakfast included in room price. Also close to the hot springs on Avila Beach Drive. Several restaurants in nearby Avila Beach and Shell Beach.

“Awesome Hotel - Not on the Beach Though”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

This is a great hotel and the price is very competitive. It's not right on the beach but it's within a few minute drive. There's a fitness club and pool that are free to use as a guest. My husband and I did notice that we were the youngest there by a lot (we're in our early 30s) so it's definitely not really a "party" place if that's the scene you are looking for. A small continental breakfast was offered as well, though it was nothing special. The room itself was fantastic! We paid an extra $20 or so to get a hot tub on our porch and that was well worth the money! The room is up-to-date, clean and luxurious with a gas fireplace, huge walk-in shower, double-sink area, etc. We really enjoyed our stay here!
