“Excellent Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

What a great hotel and staff. Everyone was very helpful, and the spa was heavenly.
I really enjoyed the hotel being nestled away in the hills of Catalina making it very quite. An affordable weekend with a chance for some RnR. Thanks to the staff for an excellent weekend.

“This is THE Place”

I had the pleasure of escorting a Girls Varsity Soccer team to play the local Hign School. My initial thought was, "This is going to be a nightmare." Ophelia not only helped me out by accomodating my girls in a single block of rooms together, but she also assisted us with identifying local restaraunts for dinner and in getting our girls fed breakfast before their final game of the weekend.
I travel for business and I have to say that after a while, all hotels are the same. It is the staff that makes a difference. Ophelia and the rest of the staff at the Catalina Canyon Resort & Spa have made it so that I WILL be back.
Thank you Ophelia!!!

“quiet getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We had a nice weekend. Our room with the balcony was nice and clean. No hotel bed is comfortable to me, so I cannot comment. The few dogs we ecountered were friendly and well mannered. The staff seemed very shy except for the manager. This getaway met our needs since we come from a "tourist" town, we prefer a less travelled environment. The price was acceptable and I got my dollar's worth. We probably will come back in the spring if the on season price is not too steep.

Room Tip: Give the manager your preferences he is very accomodating when possible.

“Off-season”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

person found this review helpful

We stayed here 3 weekend nights in late January, which is very much the off-season on Catalina. The hotel is... fine. Not terrible, not wonderful. In off-season, breakfast is only served Sat and Sun. They have a shuttle to get you back and forth to the downtown area, very pleasant drivers. Walking down to the town isn't bad, it's maybe half a mile. But the walk back up is all uphill, and tiring if it's hot. If you're not a good up-hill walker, be prepared to phone for the shuttle from downtown and wait for it to show up. It's free, but a tip is nice. The front desk staff was civil but not especially friendly.

One afternoon I wanted a nap and put the do-not-disturb sign up, but the maid knocked on the door anyhow. (We'd been out between 10 and 3, but when I got back at 3 the room still hadn't been made up.)

Room Tip: When you book, ask for a room with an unobstructed canyon view.
