We stayed here 3 weekend nights in late January, which is very much the off-season on Catalina. The hotel is... fine. Not terrible, not wonderful. In off-season, breakfast is only served Sat and Sun. They have a shuttle to get you back and forth to the downtown area, very pleasant drivers. Walking down to the town isn't bad, it's maybe half a mile. But the walk back up is all uphill, and tiring if it's hot. If you're not a good up-hill walker, be prepared to phone for the shuttle from downtown and wait for it to show up. It's free, but a tip is nice. The front desk staff was civil but not especially friendly.
One afternoon I wanted a nap and put the do-not-disturb sign up, but the maid knocked on the door anyhow. (We'd been out between 10 and 3, but when I got back at 3 the room still hadn't been made up.)
Room Tip: When you book, ask for a room with an unobstructed canyon view.
