So I brought my mother and sister out to California to enjoy all of it's splendors this summer and thought it would be a great time to visit Catalina. First of all, I was very lucky to reach the owner of the Edgewater when booking the reservation. She was extremely nice and helpful. After that one conversation, I always got the answering service when I tryed to call the hotel. One thing to know about Catalina, many hotels will not accomadate parties of 3 or more in a hotel room for fire hazard reasons, but Edgewater did. When we reached Catalina, the hotel was locked and we had to sit outside and wait for the maid to let us in at 10 am!?! Our oceanfront suite wasn't ready, so we were able to leave our bags in the "office" till she finished cleaning it. The suite was amazing and made up for many of the other shortcomings. Very clean, plenty of towels, large TV, Ipod dock and more. The continental breakfast was a joke and I attempted to brew coffee myself one morning as it was not already made for the guests, except there was no coffee anywhere...it was probably for the better as the coffeemaker looked pretty gross. Overall, my family thoroughly enjoyed their visit to teh island. I would not personally stay at the Edgewater ever again as the price did not fit the quality or service.
