Reserved over a week in advance during January the mini beach suite (medium) for two nights on hotel's website. Doubt I would be able to get anything during peak season this late so book early. Arrived noon Thursday morning via Catalina Express and hotel was able to check us in w/o waiting. Front desk & staff was pleasant and surprisingly up-graded us for free to the large suite w/o us asking. The hotel is located on the far end of main street from the ferry port, under 10 minute walk, so if you have a lot of luggage or are unable to walk as much, rent a golf cart. Everything is walkable and there is only one main street so very unlikely to get lost. Hotel has their own little market street with coffee shops, eateries, dry cleaning, laundry, gift shops, a spa and an arcade. They also have a restaurant but it was closed during winter. Everything was easily accessible. Our room had a separate entrance on the side of the hotel, not directly from the lobby, and just made it seem much more private. Room was clean and very spacious, view was incredible. Balcony was perfect for enjoying the continental breakfast in the morning and wine in evening. We had the fireplace on after a long day and brought our own movies to watch on the in-room dvd player. The breakfast spread consisted of coffee, juice, cereal, baked goods and fruit. If your looking for hot breakfast, walk down the next street to Larry's. Most of the nicer restaurants were closed during our visit but we managed to enjoy whatever was opened. Winter is slow and by 7 or 8 main street is pretty much empty. Bars have maybe 4 or 5 patrons so don't expect to party the night away. Our fave would have to be CC Galagher's wine and art bar. They have great wines, desserts, and a cozy ambience. Antonio's had tasty pizza and I'm not a pizza person. Steve's Steakhouse has good food but not a lot of choices for vegetarians. Whatever reason you are there definitely try the Zip Line. It was exhilarating and worth the price. The guides are awesome and will keep your nerves at ease!! If you have time, try the Hummer off-road ecco tour. We will be back next time for some kayaking and undersea trekking. Overall great experience and perfect for a lil getaway. Two full days and you pretty much experience everything.
