The Residence Inn penthouse suite was my Dad and my home base during a recent Southern California visit. I chose this hotel among the many, many "suite" hotel options as it was the only one with two separate sleeping areas AND two bathrooms. These were key when traveling with my 85 year old father! For this I paid a bit more (around$110/night AAA rate), but that was still far cheaper than renting two regular hotel rooms and the other places "suites" were usually just a sleeper sofa the other side of a half wall.
The main selling point of this hotel is room size and amenities. Full kitchen, full refrigerator, all dishes and pans, 3 flat screen tvs, 2 full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms (very comfy king, queen beds), lots of square footage. Note: The penthouse suites are located on the second floor with no elevator access.
There is a continental breakfast included, nothing special, but adequate. (why is the fruit on these spreads always green?). They also do a managers social hour, on Monday the week we were there. It featured really cheap wine, beer that tasted like water, popcorn and potato chips, BBQ beef sandwiches, and salad. Other guests seemed to be making a dinner of it.
All in all for a family or multiple adults who want to have lots of room and separate sleeping/bathroom areas, this is a great option!
