“Beautiful, Tranquil, secluded yet close to an array of coastal cities, activities & outstanding cuisine.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

This B&B was appointed beautifully, our hostess was a pleasure to talk with & attentive to all our needs. She anticipates the needs of her guests with perfection. The breakfast was the best I have experienced at a B&B. The goat cheese souffle surpassed my expectation of any breakfast experience. The rooms were beautifully decorated to the time period of the home & the bed was over the top comfortable. Soft linens & very comfy pillows. Having a Jacuzzi in the room was an added bonus & added to thr relaxing atmosphere. The grounds were well maintained and were a joy to explore. The natural environment lended to the viewing of many types of birds & a few deer. Highly recommend as the perfect getaway!

“Wonderful,Beautiful and Relaxing Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

My husband and I just returned from a Northern California trip and we stayed at 4 different great hotels and inns as we traveled. Our favorite place was Sand Rock Farm! We stayed in the Sun Porch room which was lovely with a spacious bedroom, bath and sitting room. Many windows brought the beautiful outside scenery right into the room. The jacuzzi tub was very nice and spacious plus there was access to the outdoor hot tub. Our bed was very comfortable and there even was a tv for our use, if desired. Breakfasts were wonderful and so different than any we'd had at many other B&Bs over the years. Kris was delightful! She helped us to make the most of our few days in the Santa Cruz area by arranging a private winery tour and whale watching. This was all done via correspondence even before we arrived! Her recommendations for dinner at two local restaurants were also spot on. While we were there, Today's Bride magazine what conducting a photoshoot for an upcoming issue and the next day Kris hosted a small wedding party. Even with all that going on, our stay was peaceful and delightful and Kris was very attentive. She runs a wonderful establishment - get there before everyone finds out about it!

“Lovely room!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

Apart from the fact that there was no tv available, we couldn't fault the room, or the bathroom (with jacuzzi bath big enough for 2). The bed was exceptionally comfortable with the softest pillows you could ever imagine.

Breakfast was lovely and different. Although my husband would have appreciated more meat! I was quite happy with it and generally it was delicious and freshly cooked.

We were lucky enough to have some really friendly fellow guests and we all had a lot of chat and laughs around the breakfast table.

The b & b is a bit off the beaten track, but if you are looking for a secluded place with a lovely comfy room, then this is it.

“Beautiful Setting, fantastic place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We made a reservation and there was a mix-up with our email communication. So, our original choice to stay in the Sun Porch Suite was booked by another guest during the confusion. Kris made this right by offering The Hidden Garden Suite to us instead at the same price as the Sun Porch and threw in a bottle of Roudon Smith Claret, which was, by the way, very nice Kris!!

The Hidden Garden Suite, complete with our private Hot-Tub, was HUGE and very peaceful. The garden, which was unbelievable in beauty, was private to us and would probably have been used more if the weather was better. However, since the weather was quite cool, we had more than enough room to relax and have space in this room complete with it's own living area, electric fireplace and bright windows, bringing the outside garden in our room with surrounding plants and flowers.

The breakfast is amazing and nothing is from a package. Everything was homemade and some of the fruits, veges and herbs came from Sand Rock Farm's own garden.

Kris and her staff were so wonderful and besides the wonderful hospitality, she recommended good restaurants in the area like Cafe Sparrow, a must for the perfect dinner in Aptos.

Recommendation: Please consider a new shower-head in this Suite as it was not nice and very inefficient. No mark down in ratings though because it is easily fixable/replaceable, which I am sure Kris will take care of.

“Exceptional B&B. We'll definitely return.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

Sand Rock Farm is a gem, a Craftsman-style inn that dates back to the 1800s, when the property was a winery. Innkeeper Kris Sheehan has surrounded the inn with winding paths through lovely gardens, shaded by stunning redwoods. Our room was large, very comfortable, with wifi access. Breakfasts were ample, delicious. Kris is a fount of information about the house and its history, what to see, where to dine.

Room Tip: All five rooms in this inn are "the best." Any of them will be just fine.
