“Great location, average service, good value for money”

The morning walk to Disneyland was the best feature of the hotel. everything is quite basic. Clean but outdated rooms, small parking lot, basic front desk service. A little more attention to details would make this a better place to stay.
Swimming pool was good; better amenities would make it great.
Overall: good value for money, but don't expect a steal.

“We had a really great stay!”

This hotel was an awesome place to stay while my husband and I went to Disneyland for our honeymoon. We were on a budget and this hotel fit right in!

We actually arrived a bit early, around 10:30am, and Jason was able to check us into the room! (A very big plus in my book!) When we got to the room, it was very tastefully decorated. The king bed was PERFECT.

Breakfast was good, no meat, but they did have some hard boiled eggs available. The breakfast area can get a bit crowded, so I would suggest getting there right when it starts at 6:30am.

The FREE wifi was what you could expect from a free service. Not too bad, my husband and I were actually able to stream a few movies at night. (That's another thing that I can not understand: why people COMPLAIN about a FREE wifi service. It's FREE people. You are NOT paying for it!)

Overall, this hotel is totally worth it, and the next time that we go to Disneyland, I will be staying here!

“Get what you pay for, but great location!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this hotel, and not a lot has changed between 2001 and now...

location - YOU CAN"T BEAT IT! They are situated kiddy corner to California Adventure park, and just up the street from the Disney hotels...it takes less than 20 minutes to walk to the Grand Californian hotel, cut through to Downtown Disney, and enter the parks...FANTASTIC! There is also a shuttle stop right outside the hotel, which came in handy when we didn't feel like walking back after a loooong day :) They are right next to an excellent restaurant, too!

Check-In - The desk agents were friendly and welcoming, and very accommodating. We were a group of 6 with 2 rooms, and though we did originally ask for side-by-side rooms, we were not granted this request. We also asked for QUIET ROOMS above all else, but the first night, our room was right next to the main drag! It sounded like the semis were driving through our room! But through a polite exchange with one of the front desk agents, we were able to secure a room the next day that was MUCH quieter, and, lo and behold, next to our family with the second room! Hmm...wasn't that what we asked for in the first place? But the front desk people were very patient with us, so shout out to them!

Rooms - Yes people, it's a motel, so the rooms will not be deluxe, but they were absolutely fine for what we needed them for - a place to sleep, and once and awhile chill out in the middle of a hectic park day. The beds were comfortable, the sinks OUTSIDE the bathroom are always nice for this family of four, and the air conditioning was a godsend! The Wi-Fi didn't work in our first room, but we had no problems with it in our second room...housekeeping came every day like clockwork!

Pool - They have two pools and a large jacuzzi, and a little kids wading pool, but it's nothing special, and is set up next to one of the main roads with a chain link fence in between the pool area and the street. But it served its purpose, and helped us cool down at the end of a looong day...I believe the pool area was open till 11:00pm!!

Breakfast - they have a complimentary breakfast set up adjacent to the lobby, a whole room for sitting and catching a bite to eat before heading out. It was a decent bounty of cereal, toast, pancakes, eggs, and doughnuts and juice/coffee, but it was busy EVERY morning, unless you timed it right...either early, or just after 8:00am.

My one gripe would have to be the vending machines...I had to hunt down bottled water one night, and NONE of the vending machines were stocked...it wasn't until I reached the very last one on the property that I was able to get some bottled water (probably because no one wanted to walk that far!) so they need to work on that, also, a couple of the machines were faulty, and wouldn't accept my money, while some of them worked just fine...recommend that if you want water, buy it at the corner store and stock it in your mini-fridge.

All in all, we would stay at Stovall's again for its location and the people who worked there...it's not the fanciest hotel, but it gets the job done, especially when the price is right!!

Room Tip: Rooms further away from the main road are quieter, and closer to the elevators!!

I have been visiting disneyland several times since 1995 and used to stay in Magic Carpet/Magic Lamp Motel (now Anabella Hotel site) during their heydays . During one of my stay there in the year 1999 , I did pass by Best Western Stovall Inn which are located along the same street of Katella and thinking to myself whether I should try to stay there for my future Disney trips .My last visit was in the year 2007 and I stayed at Quality Inn and Suites at the South Manchester Ave , which were really a disappointment to my whole family . The front desk personnel were not really attentive to our needs and to make matter worse , when my left behind luggage did finally arrived from LAX airport , they were not willing to accept on my behalf and claimed no such person staying there .Luckily , I was at the front office area and identified myself to the LAX delivery staffs with regard to my luggage . I lost my confidence towards their attitude and start to check on other nearby hotel . Their loss is Stovall Inn gains .

For this year trip , I fixed my focus on Stovall Inn based on the various positive reviews from tripadvisor and it really made my day . Hands up to the front line staffs who were always ready and very helpful in providing answers to my queries . My family were really impressed with the service attitude provided by your staffs and the plus point , wifi/internet and even computers with printers are free for the guests to use . I did all the theme parks tickets booking directly from the Business center without any hassle and there is even an ATM machine at the lobby . The complimentary daily breakfast did give us a daily dosage of energy before the start of our day , and I would say , the hotel did provide enough foods for the amount of money that we paid .Kudos ! Breakfast consists of Hot pancake/biscuits with gravy/boiled eggs/donuts/bread with butter and jams / fruits-apples/oranges / hot tea/coffee/chocolates , apple/orange juices and variety of cereals with both fat and non-fat milk contents . Even my daughter , who is a light eater , enjoyed the breakfast to our heart content .

The queen-size beds provided are the best ever bed that I have laid my body before .My son was asking me whether should we get this type of bed for our home as we feel very comfortable sleeping on it .There are a small fridge / microwave oven and a cute coffee/tea maker in the room plus an an ice bucket and food tray for our convenience use .The coin-operated washer and dryer machine on operations from 9am to 9pm .I did not have the chance to use the swimming pool but my wife and kids did commented that it looks good and inviting .The cleaning crews really did their jobs well and we do not find any security issues within the Hotel compound .
I would like to thank the management for making my vacation stay , safe and enjoyable .
My overall rating of this hotel are exceptionally high and would like to recommend it to anybody who love a peace and quiet place to stay with 5 star service quality that put other 5 star hotel to shame ,Once again , thank you Best Western Stovall Inn .

P.S All major Airport shuttles serves this hotel and will drop you directly in front of the lobby . BTW , the Disney ART shuttle stop (Bus No 9) is just next to the lobby with 1day pass cost USD4.00 only with the convenience of hopping all around Anaheim major attractions .

Room Tip: 03rd level rooms facing the swimming pools where you can watch the nightly Disney fireworks at 0845p...

“Good service depending on who answers the phone!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

We were pleasantly surprised at how nicely the rooms had been redone since our last stay 4 years ago. Everything seemed updated and much nicer than we'd remembered. The first evening we noticed a few ants on the sink area. Just 3 or 4, not a whole army. So we cleaned them up and didn't think much of it.
The next night after being in Disneyland all day, we came back to about 15-20 ants. Again, not a huge mess, but not what we wanted to be seeing. My husband called the desk and the night manager made a comment that he had the same issues at home sometimes. (As if we wanted to know that?!). He did offer to send someone up to clean them up, which we had already done, and said they could spray the next day. Well, we have 2 small children with asthma, so bug spray doesn't really work for us. He said the only other thing to do was give us a plastic bag to put the kids' medicine and toothpaste in. While we weren't satisfied, we were tired and decided to just go with it and get some sleep.
The next nit it was even worse. This time when my husband called the new manager, Michael, immediately offered us a new room on a different floor. Isn't that what the other manager should have done? He sent someone over with a luggage cart and we were moved to an ant free room. He also comped our parking fees. The rest of the stay was fine.
Overall, the rooms without ants were perfect for a stay at Disneyland. Beds were comfy, good water pressure, adequate continental breakfast. Just be prepared for some managers to do their jobs and others not to.
