“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We have been to Disneyland many times. We have stayed at other hotels; a couple of them were upscale. However Dessert Inn and Suites has been the best experience for our family. You would be hard pressed to beat the location. The hotel is so close to the park that you can walk back to rest or regroup which is great if you travel with young kids or grandparents. What is nice for our family is that once we get to the hotel were done with travel hassles, no parking issues, bus schedules or traffic we just get up and walk to the park and come back when were ready. Dessert Inn and Suites is clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast is very convenient and helps us to get to the park faster. The staff has always addressed any issue we've had to our satisfaction. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient, clean and affordable place to stay while visiting Disneyland.

“2nd Stay at the Desert Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

This was our second stay at the Desert Inn. Last year (see my previous review) we stayed in a Family Suite (2 bedrooms/2bathrooms) on the 2nd floor towards the back of the hotel. This year, we stayed in the Family C2 Suite (has 2 rooms/2 bathrooms/and a very tiny parlor with an extremely hard couch and a TV) This was on the 3rd floor right in the middle of the hotel. The room setup worked well for us, because our kids sleep better in separate rooms and it was nice to have a "living room", even though extremely small, to watch movies in when the kids go to bed early without waking them up. The location of the room however, was EXTREMELY noisy. We could hear the people above us at all hours (every footstep, shower, toilet flush, kids crying, etc). It woke up our kids, and even my husband who typically sleeps through anything. Plus, being in the middle area of the hotel, we also had the noise from people walking by on the outside of the front doors. After the first night, we asked to be moved to the top floor. However the C2 suite was not available on the top floor, so we would have had to do a bigger suite (I didn't even realize there was one....it doesn't show one on their website) and pay $75 per night more. We decided it wasn't worth it and just dealt with it (since we might as well have stayed at a nicer hotel for the added cost- for example the Camelot was about that much more. Even though it isn't nicer, it was much quieter).

Other pros:
-The location (steps away from the Disneyland crosswalk- and about a 5 minute walk to the Disneyland gate) We could even see the fireworks out our window one night.
- It has a small shop for gifts and basic items you might need.
- They also offer a very minimal continental breakfast, but better than nothing.
- They have an indoor pool. We haven't ever used it however.
-The price for the size of the rooms in comparison to other comparable hotels

Other Cons:
- NOISY
- front desk staff not very "happy" or helpful. They are there to do their job and not much more. Each time we have arrived- we struggle through the door with all of our luggage, strollers, and kids, and have never had anyone offer to help hold the door open or do anything even through there is no one else in the lobby. They just watch you struggle through the door....not very good customer service, but for the price/quality of the hotel it can't be expected.
-The "continental breakfast" is just some icky pastries, oranges or apples, some bread to make toast, and some tang-like drink.
-The beds are pretty hard and uncomfortable...but doable for just a few nights.

The Desert Inn was pretty good for our first trip.....not good for this trip. We will definitely be trying something different next time. Maybe if you get a room on the top floor it will help? But we have decided that if we can't get any sleep due to the noise, the lower price isn't worth it!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the top floor or one towards the back of the hotel. You can hear every noise f...

“Another Fabulous Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Just enjoyed my third visit to Disneyland and second stay at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites and can't wait for a return visit! We reserved a two bed/two bath suite for this visit and will probably do that again. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and most affordable. And best of all, you absolutely can't beat the location--literally across the street from the entrance to Disneyland. If you are in the area specifically to visit Disneyland, I highly recommend the Desert Inn and Suites, especially if you will be bringing young children. It is so convenient to return to the hotel for a few hours mid-day to "re-energize" and, if prepared, to enjoy lunch in the suite rather than paying the outrageous food & beverage prices at the park. The breakfast buffet lacked variety but was kept well stocked and clean. However, with a Denny's on one side and IHOP on the other, there are other options if you're looking for a cooked meal. I have read about parking nightmares but this was not a problem for us, as we did not move our vehicle during our entire stay. If we return to Disneyland, we will definitely stay at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites again!

Room Tip: Suites are very roomy and well worth the price.

“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We have stayed at the desert Inn and Suites in Anaheim for 4 years and have always been pleased. The rooms are clean and comfortable The proximity to Disneyland could not be better. The staff was polite. The parking is a bit of a nightmare but this is a small thing. We had most of out family with us which totaled 10 and our request for rooms together was taken care of without a problem. If you are a 5 star person this will not be "your" place to stay but you will be missing out on a very nice place with a great location.

“Good fro off season stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

The room was clean enough and the staff was friendly and helpful. I think it was a good deal at $59 for our January stay, however, I think more than $89 or so for peak season price is too much for what you get. It's a good motel if you are on a budget and you get what you would expect at the price, but it is clean enough and that is what counts at this price range. I'll probably stay here again but only during the off season with lower prices because of the very close proximity to Disneyland, it is actually closer to the park than the Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel, perfect for walking, even with small children. Great to have a Denny’s right next door and Mc Donald’s is close as well. In the peak season, I will stay somewhere nicer for the same price or less. Room is spacious enough to have a pack and play (porta crib). Ask to stay on the top floor to avoid stompers from above. There is an elevator so it would be ok for strollers. I didn't have kids with me, but I do have kids so I naturally think of these things!
