We stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites from January 24 – January 27, 2012. I booked two adjoining rooms over the phone and got a rate of $84 a night for each room (which was cheaper than what was listed on their website. Parking was $9 a day and some hotels in the area are free, but with this great room rate, even with the daily parking fee the room was a great deal.
We arrived at 10 a.m. and the room wasn’t quite ready. The staff was so friendly and told my parents they would get the room ready as soon as possible (which was great because check in isn’t until 4 p.m.). The room was ready within one hour.
This is an older, motel style hotel, but the rooms are very clean and newly renovated. I loved the laminate flooring. I’ve never seen that in a hotel room. The beds were super comfortable.
We were on the 2nd floor close to the front of the hotel. I had seen complaints about it being a noisy but I didn’t have any problems with sleeping.
The continental breakfast is pretty basic but tasty enough and a great savings. Boiled eggs, donuts, toast, a couple cereals, croissants, pastries, bagels, milk, juice, and coffee/tea. This is the low season so the breakfast room wasn’t very crowed, but it is pretty small so I can see it filling up really fast. The staff there always ensured everything was fully stocked. The breakfast room has a TV with cartoons for the kids and a great view of the Disney parks.
The location is superb and was the main reason we picked this hotel. It’s only a 5 minute walk to the Disney (basically across the street). Perfect for families with kids who need to come back to the hotel for a nap. It was great for us for us because my parents would take our son back to the hotel when he was tired and my husband and I would stay a bit longer.
There are lots of restaurants in this area. McDonald’s is right next door (which our son loved). We tried Millie’s which was just at the Fairfield Inn and it was great food and very reasonable. We also ate at IHOP which was good but pricey for an IHOP (as are most restaurants across from Disney). We tried to eat at Quizno’s at our hotel but it was closed at 7:30 p.m. (even though the sign posted said they were open until 8 p.m.).
I can’t comment on the pool as it was closed for the duration we were there. It was a little disappointing but really with the full days at Disney, it was too late to enjoy it anyway.
I would certainly recommend this hotel. The location can’t be beat, close to lots of restaurants, friendly staff, rooms are renovated and clean, and the price is excellent. I checked quite a few motels the Carousel Inn and Suites had the most reasonable rates in the location we wanted.
