when we got to our room, air did not work, paint chipping off walls, tv knobs missing. everything dirty and outdated,

We couldn't believe our eyes when we arrived at the hotel that we had gotten reservations for. The outside of the hotel should have been our first clue to high tail it right out of there, but because it was so late and we didn't think that we could find something else at such late notice, we decided to stay... that was a terrible mistake! We got to our room and it had holes in the walls which hadn't been patched or painted, staining on the ceiling from water leakage, the lights weren't working, and there wasn't enough light to even unpack our things and see what we were unpacking. The room smelled like a wet dog and the bedding smelled sour like it had been left sitting wet in the washing machine and had mildewed. There were holes in the floor under the carpet in an area of the room... it was basically your worst nightmare!!! We went down to see if there were any other rooms and were told that they were booked but would give us a free upgrade to a suite on the next day. After talking it over, we decided that we really didn't want to stay there and so my husband went down to get our money back for the rest of the days... we would have to stay for 1 night but wanted to try to find something else for the other 5 nights... to make a long story short, we had paid cash and hadn't gotten our receipt from the guy yet and didn't really think much of it since usually we get a receipt at the end of the stay... To make this as short as possible, the guy who took our money pocketed some of it and marked down that we had paid $35 less than what we had paid... so because of the money mix up, we couldn't get our money back until the next day when we talked to the manager. We had luckily paid in large bills and he was able to go back to the deposit and see that the employee had lied... otherwise we would have been in worse shape. We just didn't want someone else to make the same mistake as we did... we will only go with well known Hotels in the future!!!
