“DONT DO IT!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2009

We stayed in this "hotel" in 2006 and I was hoping to find that things had changed. sadly they have not. Here is an excerpt from my trip journal from that trip....

"Got to the Parkside Hotel and Suites to check in and when we opened the doors to our rooms what we saw took our breath away.! The sink in our room was screwed shut and was unusable. Our shower in our room did not work so I had to shower in the boys bathroom where the hot water lasted 3 minutes and the water flow coming out of the spigot was stuck on super turbo jet mode!!" (painful)

"Back to the hotel by 9:30pm and on the phone to hotels.com to get us a better place for the next two nights. This place is atrocious!!!!!!"

Next morning...."We all packed up and went to find our new hotel for the next two nights at the Annabella. WOW! right around the corner and this place is great!! Two rooms, each one with a second mini room with a bed and a TV."

Also of note there were cigarette burns on all the furniture and the A/C was so caked with grease and dust that you wouldn't dare turn it on. The sheets smelled of mildew and my husband's asthma was barely controlled. There were several water stains on the ceiling that were just painted over instead of taken care of properly. The man at the front desk was kind of scary so I really didn't want to complain to him but I had to do something.
Since this trip was booked through hotels.com I called and raised heck with them and since they had a guarantee they said they would find something else for us. The next day...EARLY!!!.... we got in the car and were sent to the Annabella Hotel and that place was GREAT!!! Thank God I called and complained. Hotels.com did right by us and I hope they dropped that "hotel" from their services. We do all our booking through the Disney travel agency now for all our Disney trips.

“Frightening. Gangs. Homeless. Crazy transvestite. Violence. Cops. Bugs. Smelly.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2008

This is, without a doubt, absolutely the WORST hotel that I have ever stayed at on a Disney trip, and that can get pretty nasty.

The PARKSIDE INN AND SUITES.

The room stunk, period. Smell was unbearable. Reeked of cigarettes and mold.

The fixtures were ancient and broken. The bathroom was moldy and sickening, with broken tiles and rotten gunk in the window sills.

There were cockroaches.

Some of the other guests were loud and obnoxious, and the front desk refused to do anything about it. It also appeared that there were a couple of families that had taken up residence there.

The door to our room had been kicked in before.

The "Continental Breakfast" consisted of stale, ancient individually wrapped lil' debbie snacky-cakes of some sort, and coffee that tasted like lukewarm dirtwater. It was tastefully served in the pool maintenance room.

There was gang activity on the streets at night when we were getting back from the parks. The walk is long, and along very dark streets. I saw several packs of young gang-bangers, and they were not looking to do good deeds. Several of the last gang tore fronds off of palm plants and were whacking cars with them as they walked along. Not good. Not good at all.

The homeless people that were asking for money the second we got out of our room was bad. I do feel for them, I really do. But it was insanity. And when there was finally a schizophrenic transvestite standing outside the hotel on the corner talking to him/herself in a very, very loud voice, I just got incredibly annoyed and terrified at the same time.

The walk is looooooooooooooooong to get to the parks. Don't believe their lies that it's "directly behind DCA". That is just an out-and-out lie. Period. And as I stated earlier, the homeless and the schizophrenic transvestite were there during the DAY. At night, you are literally looking all around you as you find your way back along dark, scary streets with no cops around and tons of people who would gladly do something bad to you just to entertain themselves.

All of this may seem bad. But wait, there's more.

On our last night there, we woke up at the crack of dawn to the sounds of a woman's bloodcurdling scream outside of our room. I got up and went out to see what in the heck was going on, and some woman was fighting with a guy in the parking lot. Two police cars showed up with sirens blaring and lights blazing, and broke up the fight, then cuffed the guy, who sat shirtless on the curb as the police interviewed the woman.

Luckily, our transportation showed up shortly thereafter and we scooted.

DO NOT STAY AT THE PARKSIDE INN AND SUITES. If you do, you are putting your family's lives at risk.

“Price matches quialty”

We stayed here five nights and were quite comfortable. Yes, some of the furnishings are older, but that is to be expected for the price. The TV, fridge and microwave all worked fine. If price is a concern this place is not all that bad as the other reviews seem to make it.
