“Stunning Hotel but less than stellar food”

We stayed here for our anniversary and enjoyed the hotel, but will likely not stay here again. The other Disney properties were half the price and though not as convenient, offered a better value. The good, the hotel is beautiful with a grand lobby, very reminiscent of the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone Park. Our room was very comfortable, with a great view from our balcony of the monorail and California Adventure park and offered a private entrance to the park, which made it very convenient. We would enjoy the park in the morning, drop by the hotel for a rest for a half hour or so and back to the park very easily. The staff was very attentive and friendly as one would expect from a Disney Property.
The Not So Good, food at this hotel was some of the worst we've had at Disney properties. The Storyteller Cafe had limited options for dinner and for a ridiculous price. Our dinner buffet consisted bbq chicken, roast beef, turkey breast, chicken nuggets. mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, carrots and a very basic salad bar for two our meal was 60.00. Pathetic indeed.
The Napa Rose restaurant had menu entrees starting at about 40.00 each, so we didn't bother.
The White Water snacks bar, which offered a reasonable breakfast option, but very limited seating. Breakfast burritos and biscuit breakfast sandwiches for 7.00 each, but they are large enough to share. We ate lunch here on our first day and then breakfast on the remaining days of our stay. Coffee is the worst, Nescafe really? Blech...
The Hearthstone Lounge did offer the possibility of a Latte but skip it and walk out to Downtown Disney, just outside the hotel and head over to Haagen Daz for Peet's coffee. Sadly we didn't discover this until our last day and after I had forced down another cup of the Nescafe swill.
Overall, beautiful hotel, friendly folks, but a wasteland when it comes to meal time. :) Also if you are one who like bright open spaces, this is not your best option. The dark woods and stone of the interiors feels a bit dark. I like that look, but the lobby at night was too dark for me even.

Room Tip: The "hi speed" internet was spotty at best and self parking is 15.00 a day and valet is 22...

“Gorgeous lobby, nice rooms, just don't pay retail!”

If you pay under $200 per night for the room, go for the bargain. You may feel cheated, however, if you spend top dollar ($300+ per night!) as the rooms are nice but nothing spectacular. The location, however, and the lobby ambiance is really beautiful. Can't beat the convenience to California Adventure theme park, downtown Disney, and of course Disneyland.

Room Tip: Look for bargain rates online.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

After reading some negative reviews I was a little concerned especially as I am a Travel Agent however my stay was exceptional. I was in a standard room which was exactly as I expected. It was clean (and I am fussy) I had a view of the pool and the Adventure Park. The Air Conditioning worked really well. The beds were great but like all hotels take your own pillow. The reception staff at check in all provided excellent service. I arrived at 10am and they checking me straight in. I went the end of Jan which is low season so it wasn't so busy. The best thing was having direct access to the Park and Down Town Disney shopping street filled with places to eat and shopping. They also have a self service cafe where you could get meals all day long, breakfast was just $6.99 per person.

The Wi-Fi did not work to well on some days and this seems to be an on-going issue with the hotel. My room had an interconnecting door and I could hear the baby crying and talking as well as the Mum talking from time to time so check when you check in and make sure you ask about this. The water pressure is not great in the shower but still OK ... don't let this put you off as there is no such thing as a perfect Hotel.

Overall the Hotel was wonderful... and after a long day we could walk straight into the hotel. If you have the cash stay there. If not stay at the other cheaper Disney hotel over the road... some of them have been recently refirbushed and are much cheaper.

Room Tip: View over the pool was great. No noise what so ever.

“Best ambiance and location of the CA Disney Hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

But very expensive. It is, however, awesome to be able to be in the park in a matter of minutes from the room. Plus, if you stay in the hotel, you can get in Disneyland an hour early (at 7:00am) by taking the monorail near the hotel in the Disney Village straight to Tomorrowland and so jump right on Space Mountain or the Nemo Submarine or Peter Pan before the crowds are let in. We got a room facing the California Adventures directly behind Goofy's Flight School. With the balcony door closed we couldn't hear the screaming, although we could hear a little of the World of Color show as that volume is high. You can also see that show from the balcony if you are facing the park. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff was nice enough to give us balloons and streamers to decorate and a signed princess photo. The breakfast in the Storyteller Cafe (make a reservation in advance) was excellent and we ordered off the menu which I think was better than the buffet looked. Check out a little early at 11:00 am. Minor criticism is no feather pillows.

“Great vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The Hotel was great. Great people working there. The only thing I wished would be to have the rooms better lit and more storage for your clothes. Yes we would stay there again. Best location for both parks.
