“Bare bones, but who cares?”

Seriously, if you are the least bit high-maintenance, Zaby's is NOT the place for you!
Cons: Bare lightbulb instead of lamp
Actual key instead of card
Completely unlovely
Pros: 10 minute walk to parks
CHEAP!
Honestly, though, the service can be spotty and the front office is a teensy bit off-putting. But we've stayed two times and we love it! We make fun of its shoddiness and revel in its closeness to the parks! Enjoy, fellow low-maintenace travelers!

“Great Value and Super Close to the Parks!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2010

I stayed for two nights and was happy with my stay. This is a funky old moter lodge. The front office is quirky, if you are uptight you may be turned off. Check in was easy and front desk clerk was friendly. The room was clean and efficient. I was visiting Disneyland and DCA so I really just wanted a place to sleep. My room had been updated with modern furnishings but it was super bare with only a bed, dresser with a TV on it, bed side tables and a lone diningroom chair in the corner. My only complaint is that there was not an outlet near the bed so I could plug in my cell phone.
Towels were not lush but they were ample. Bathroom was clean and shower worked well. Bed was comfortable with clean sheets and good pillows. There was a mini-fridge that I didn't use but it was nice that it was there. I got a chuckle at the retro room key and keychain. BEST part of my stay was after being at the Parks for 15 hours I walked from the parks and was in bed in 15 minutes!

“Pleasant But Simple”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

I needed a cheap place in Anaheim on March 20, so I booked this place and was then horrified to read the reviews. A travel site messed up my reservation also. However, when I got there, I found the folks at the desk to be courteous and helpful. The room was spacious and clean, right next to an IHOP, a 5 minute walk to Convention Center and 15 to Disneyland. There was soap and shampoo, sufficient towels, TV's (no remote), and for me at least the bed was comfortable (I get sore if mattresses are too firm). I have traveled extensively and while this place is simple, I did not find it sleazy by an means.

“Tough Times on the Boulevard”

Word to the wise...do not stay at Zaby's unless you are totally desperate! The location is fantastic, but that's about it. Reviews I had read stated it was "no frills" but was a fine place to sleep & shower. Let me tell you, it wasn't a fine place to sleep or shower! The tub & sink drains both clogged & backed up when in use and the beds were gross. I estimate the mattresses in our room were at least 20 years old, if not older. To me, no frills means no microwave/coffeemaker/refrigerator. No frills should still include a lamp or lamps (our room had two bare lightbulbs sticking out of the wall between the beds), TV remote and a window that can be opened for fresh air. Zaby's provided none of these.

My husband and I don't have much money, so I made the mistake of trusting the reviews I read and figured it wouldn't be too bad. This was my birthday trip to Disneyland and we hadn't been in years. Staying at Zaby's actually detracted from our fun weekend. Just knowing I had to go back to that room to sleep was grossing me out the whole time I was supposed to be having fun on my birthday! Lesson learned. If you still aren't convinced, check out the photos I took.

“Dirt Cheap for a Dirty Room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

I highly recommend that you NOT stay at this motel. We checked in August 3rd @ 4PM & checked out August 3rd @ 5PM. 1st when we got there the desk person was not friendly at all. They gave us room 78, we went up and the first thing we noticed was the bad smell the room had, then the sink was dirty and rusted, the bathroom floor was coming up with mold under it. That's not even the worst part, I pulled back the covers on my bed and the bed was wet. I called down to the desk and notified them. The rude guy came up to check, like he didn't believe me. Then he moved us to room 80, it wasn'r any better. This rooms fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling, so we know it didn't work, no coffee pot, dressers had no handles, smelled bad, bathrrom door would not shut and the shower knob fell off. I tried to deal with it, but with 4 teenagers with me, and was not possible. I didn't see any bugs, and the pool looked o.k. but I doubt there was anything eise good about this place. It may be cheap, but trust me, spend the extra $ and stay somewhere else!!!
