“Don't miss this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

This was our highlight of Bed and Breakfasts in California last fall. The owners were friendly and charming and so helpful. We ate breakfast watching the hummingbirds and quail play in the yard. So restful and peaceful. There is so much history to the place as it was a Stagecoach Inn years ago. We loved it and would love to go back.

“Nice place, nice people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

Very quiet. You have to try hard to hear anything at night. Don't miss the humming birds. We counted at least 7. Definitely out in the country. Good breakfasts. The people who run this place try hard and will let you know the ins and outs of local spots.

“A Warm Hug!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2010

Staying here is like a WARM HUG! Easily overlooked because it is on the wrong side of the highway and your first thoughts would be that is no ocean view, or at least not one worth looking at, but if you let that stop you not only would you be missing out on the incredible ocean views, but all of the wonders that this quaint inn has to offer.

My husband and I stayed in the Tower Suite for our 10 year Anniversary. Bob (one of the innkeepers) greeted us at the door with a hug, a welcome and a bottle of champagne in our room. In the morning we served a gourmet three course breakfasts with goodies such as baked pairs in a raspberry sauce with raspberry sorbet, Dutch boys, and fresh squeezed orange juice, and hot muffins baked just for us. Add to this that they seated us in front of the huge windows that not only over looked a stunning meadow but the ocean just beyond. I could not have asked for a more romantic weekend.

What sets this place apart for anywhere else I have ever stayed is the atmosphere created by the family who own and runs the place. This is their home, and they make you feel like welcome friends not paying customers. Its in the little details easily over looked, like the warm crackling fire let to die down in the corner of the room, or how they set out feed for the birds just moments before you were due to sit down, so that the meadow was full of life, and you eating breakfast with dozens of hummingbirds literally on the other side of the window. It’s the easy conversation, and how they take what they learn about you and point you in the right direction so that you and truly enjoy your time there.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic get away, or someone looking to recharge a stressed out tired soul.

*** Also they are Dog friendly and can help you find a puppy sitter for the day so you and your pups can have fun. Next time we are bringing our dog****

“Relax and enjoy your stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

This was our first trip to CA, and our first experience with a Bed and Breakfast.
We were greeted by Bob upon arriving, and he provided us with a little history of the Inn, and showed us around. He knew so much about the area, and could probably direct you to anything you were intersted in.

Our room was fantastic, we stayed in the Headlands room. I loved the view of the Ocean, and the private porch was exactly what I had hoped for. The location is very close to Mendocino, and easy to find. We found it very easy to relax on our private porch, and enjoyed the bottle of wine the Inn provided upon arrival.
Hummingbirds were a highlight for us, we got so close to them outside you could hear their wings whir as they passed your head. We had fun photographing them. Deer arrived at dusk and were equally amusing to us.
We had a very nice, quiet, and undisturbed sleep that night. There were other guests the night we stayed, but we didnt hear them at all.
The breakfast served in the morning was excellent, freshly made, and very filling.

I would love to return, and probably will if I am ever out that way again.

“Just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2009

We stayed in the Fensalden Inn, but we were not impressed. We went with another couple during Thanksgiving. The two rooms we had needed some maintenance work. The overall facility is run down. The breakfast was ok, wasn't thrilled. I don't usually complain about much, but disappointed would be the right word.
