“Wonderful spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

My husband and I really enjoy staying at this bed & breakfast inn when we go to the Northern California coast. The owners, Chris and Molly, are very warm, friendly people. Definitely a good family business. The rooms are fun and extremely quiet at night....so are the cottages which they will allow some pets. It is close to Mendocino and not far from Fort Bragg so there is alot you can do during the day. There is a really nice dinner house, The Ledford House, just down the road from them if you don't want to drive far for dinner. Chris makes a nice hot breakfast every morning......try it.

Room Tip: Some rooms have antique double beds, so ask if you need a larger one. You can see the ocean from the...

“Wonderful Beautiful Breathtaking surroundings!”

The setting of this place is absolutely breathtaking. Fog was all around. Moss growing on the all the really old fencing. Huge coastal cypress trees. Gray (sky and buildings) and gold (fields) everywhere. Stunning really. The first thing we did was take a walk around the property and snap about a 100 photos.

The Inn Keepers are fantastic and friendly. Very welcoming. We stayed here one night on our honeymoon and they left us a bottle of wine AND champagne and a really sweet hand-written card wishing us all the best. The breakfast was really good and served at a communal table with the other guests, which was nice because we all got to chit chat over generous pours of breakfast champagne. The coffee was great too as well as the service. It was really peaceful.

I do have to mention the bad part, which I hate to do because everything else was wonderful. We stayed in the Tower Suite. It's a super cool building detached from the main house, BUT... SPIDERS!! Huge, scary, mean, spiders. I'm terrified of big spiders and I sensed that they were everywhere in this building. I saw one in the bathroom trash - must have been about 2 inches (scream for husband to come save me and kill it). Then another in shower - even bigger (again, scream for help). On the walls. One in the kitchen sink. Anyway, I couldn't relax at all in there. i sat on the edge of the couch on high alert and then when bed time came, I had to have my husband check throughout the whole bedroom - sheets and all - before i would even go in there. Couldn't sleep because of it.

Also, the Tower suite interior and its furniture are very run down. It would benefit greatly from an update - and some insulation or something to keep the monster spiders out. The main house some a couple of cool, cozy communal rooms to hang out in with games and such.

So, all-in-all beautiful surroundings, fantastic friendly service, Tower building could greatly benefit from an update and anti-spider measures. Maybe the main house is different. Anyway, it's a neat place for sure!

Room Tip: The do allow dogs in the tower building. Just not the main house.

“Unique site, warm & appealing inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

The Inn is situated on large property with a view over an open meadow between the woods to a bluff with the ocean in the distance. Not abutting the highway, the quiet alone makes it far more appealing than other B&Bs along Hwy 1 a couple miles north in Mendocino proper, many of which appear too large to really qualify (in my view) as B&Bs. We visited late July 2011 and saw a little fog in the morning, but nothing to focus on. I'm not nearly the B&B enthusiast my wife is, but I was quite pleased. I'd confirm everything others have said, and especially note the enjoyably large living room from which to watch the birds and enjoy the view.

“Fog is beautiful on vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

Our inn keeper, Chris and his assistant Isiah were gracious, entertaining and helpful with all our needs.

Breakfast was relaxing and fun with other inn guests. The food was wonderful. Tasty treats each day fresh from the oven. The dining experience is part of the special atmosphere in a B and B. We've been going to this Inn for many years and took our young Brazilians friends with us this time. They had a great time.

Due to the usual weather the view room didn't extend a view to the ocean on this trip, but the ambiance of the inn grounds was well worth a look. Birds and deer fed in the lovely garden and there's a goat to visit nearby.

Any number of novels could start with the heavy fog that greeted our arrival the first evening. The mossy fence pickets and soothing water feature added to the charm.

The rooms are aging and comfortable, ours by the garden was quite large. If plastic or modern is your thing this isn't the place for you. All have gas stoves for a quick touch of heat and ambiance. The complementary bottle of wine in from a local winery.

The game room has lots of information, games and a telescope. The other common areas boast a piano and guitar for your use snacks and port for refreshment. All common areas have great windows onto the garden, and on a clear day great views out to the sea beyond.

“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

This is a great place to stay . Right by the seaside, with views of the ocean from the rooms. Of course, the two days we were there, were the days there had to be fog all around. But it was still gorgeous.

The breakfasts they provide are rich and heavy . So plan a light lunch after that !

The best part about them is that , they are willing to accommodate 1 day requests rather the mandatory 2 day stay unlike other inns in the area.

They have a game room, a huge cozy living room to spend time in.

Go there if you want a relaxed weekend.
