Myself and my daughter and her friend made reservations to stay here the weekend of the Alabama/Auburn game so my daughter could see the school as she might go there next year. We had reservations for Saturday and Sunday but while I was talking to my AAA rep , she stated they had some bad reviews but a few good ones. I called and asked if I could cancel the second night . The reservation number had quoted me 140.00 per night , total = 285.98. ( more expensive the weekend of the "Iron Bowl") The person who answered the phone said "we are not supposed to but I'll do it- Happy Thanksgiving". We got there on Saturday and were in a hurry to get to the game to tail gate with friends before they went into the game as we didn't have tickets. At the desk I was handed a reservation with 255.00 on it and I asked why and he said that was for the one night and he had removed the second night which was 59.99. I told him what I was quoted and he said that was because I did it on line, which I told him I did not I did it through the reservation line. He continued to argue and I was in a hurry so I stopped arguing with him . He said he would wash the blanket and comforter as it was a smoking room, offered the kingsize room that was non smoking but my daughter's friend was not comfortable sleeping with me and my daughter all in the same bed. Oh my gosh , the hotel was filthy, the stairwell smelled like beer and was wet , no "caution wet floor" sign. Upon entering the second floor hallway, the smell of marajuana was overwhelming. The two housekeepers were still cleaning the room in their sock feet, one talking on the cell phone the whole time she was "cleaning". The other one told us it was ready ,no smile. We went in and it didn't smell too bad, the window was open. In the bathroom was cigarette ashes on the floor, a cigarette butt in the toilet and the floor was sticky that my flip flop came off. There was food in the freezer. But, we were in a hurry , so we closed the window, I was afraid someone would climb in the window while we were gone, and sprayed the room deodorizer they had given us. We left by the side door. I worried the whole time we were gone if the hotel was safe for three females alone. When we returned I asked if any rooms were available and was told no that the last king size non smoking had been booked on line. We went up the stairs and my daughter's friend slipped and fell as the stairs were still wet. The place still smelled and there were dead roaches in the hallway. We got to the room and opened the door and it was as if people had just left the room smoking, not stale smell but overwhelming fresh smoke. The blankets and comforters were folded on the bed , the beds were not made . Again, I was afraid to open the window for safety reasons. I called the front desk and told him we could not stay there , he called the general manager, whose family is also the owners, that we had checked in with in the A.M. I was on the phone to the reservations line telling them the problem and they were trying to find me another hotel. The gentleman from the front desk came in the room and handed me his cell phone and Mr. Patel, the manager, was yelling at me about how he had done everything he could and cancelled the second night when they had a 21 day cancellation policy and I explained to him that I couldn't stay in the filthy hotel, I could just imagine rats under the bed. I told the reservation person in my one ear that the manager was yelling at me in the other ear and the reservation person was trying to calm me down and told me to hang up on the other line and he could put us in the Sleep Inn for 99.00 for a suite with 2 queen beds and sofa and that I should call customer service the next day. So I gave the phone to the desk person and he helped us with our stuff to the car apologizing and suddenly a car raced up in the parking lot and I asked him if that was the manager because I was going to call 911. He said it wasn't and went back in the hotel, we went to the Sleep Inn right down the road and Ricki at the desk was very helpful as I fell apart, so relieved to be in a safe clean place. I never presented the actual card at the Quality Inn and was sure I wouldn't be charged as it was never asked for when I left that night but 4 days later it appeared taken out of the account. I called Mr. Patel and requested a refund and sighted all of the reasons again and he refused the refund even though we never even used the bathroom , much less slept there. I continue to get the charges removed.
