We spent a Friday night at the Auburn Holiday Inn Express to attend an athletic event at the Auburn Arena. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We had a lovely king suite on the third floor. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. The bed was comfortable and the linens were in very good condition. The bathroom was spacious and immaculately clean, but the lighting could have been better. The room itself was well-lit with multiple lamps. The hotel is located near campus, but transportation is needed to get there. There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel (Pizza Hut and Taco Bell), but many other restaurants are within a short driving distance. Breakfast was typical HI Express fare -- bacon, eggs, gravy and biscuits, yogurt, cereals, bagels, bread for toasting, cinnamon rolls, juices, milk, coffee and tea, bananas and apples. Supplies of food were replenished while we were there, and the attendant was gracious and helpful. The grounds and lobby area were attractive and well-tended.

We were given a really good price for a one night stay, a great room at the end of the hall and complimentary drinks and snacks before dinner. The server was so nice and made sure that we had exactly what we needed. Lauren, the front desk clerk, was AWESOME! She's such a delightful, young lady and was especially helpful in informing us of the local restaurants in the area. She's also told us of everything available to us here at the hotel. She's an asset to your organization. The nicest and cheapest hotel we stayed in on our trip. Thank you!

The service was excellent. They even called my room to make sure that I got everything that I needed.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Auburn for a football weekend on Sept. 2011 for a couple of nights. Here are a few observations of my stay:
1) Location is away from campus (transportation needed to get to campus or downtown areas) even though there are a number of restaurants close by,
2) My spacious non-smoking room on the 3rd floor smelled like the previous guest smoked pipes in the room,
2) Breakfast had expired fruit yoghurt. I told the restaurant staff of that issue, so she disposed of all the expired products in the breakfast area fridge. However, and to my utter surprise, the fridge had other expired fruit yoghurt the next morning.
3) The free WiFi internet did not work during the second half of my stay and the front desk indicated that it will not be fixed before the following week,
4) Various stains on furniture and carpet in room,
5) The housekeeping staff is very loud and does not take into consideration the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the room door.
