We passed through Alexander City on our way home from FL and wanted a cheap place to spend the night. The price of $50 sounded good. As the man at the front desk started telling me "how" to turn the shower on, I realized we made a mistake. It was late and my husband was tired, so with an open mind, we proceeded. We walked down a dungeon hallway to enter our room. The smell was atrocious and the dim lighting made it seem like a proper place for prostitutes. We were all in dismay. My husband and I tried to convince our teenage girls one night wouldn’t hurt but they were already scared. Our girls insisted they would not get under the blankets. They also would not change into pajamas or walk barefoot on the carpet. We tried to sleep but the thumping and running kept us wake. Many times during the night we heard screams coming from another area in the motel, we suspected the owners children. It was a little eerie. Finally, after thrashing and tossing till 4am we decided to get up, count our losses and move on. This place was the worst I’ve seen but my husband, who traveled as a truck driver, said he‘s seen much worse. I guess you can take your chances.

This property used to be a Super 8. it's a shame they didn't take the money they saved by dropping that franchise fee and invest in some upkeep on this motel. To be honest at $52.32 (including tax) I really shouldn't complain. The price is probably about right for what you get. There are no 'extras' here and the 'breakfast' leaves a lot to be desired.
But, the room was relatively clean and I guess for the price it was OK. Truth be told though there are better choices in the area. If you can afford to pay a bit more I would recommend going to another motel. Having said that if you're tired and just need a place to sleep for the night and that's all - what the heck this will do.
