“Difficult trip made easier!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

The staff of the Carlyle Suites in DC ROCKS!!!! I was part of a group that was in DC for an interment of a Navy Veteran at Arlington National Cemetery. We stayed at the Carlyle Suites from 1/30 to 2/1 and I was very impressed. I have stayed in many hotels in the DC area, and will put this facility right up there with the JW Marriott, The Willard and others!!!

David, Bernadette, and all of the front desk staff were very accommodating. They were able to answer every question and help with all the "favors" asked of them. The folks in the bar and restaurant also did a great job!!! The private luncheon on 1/31 gave us all an opportunity to relax while the staff "pampered" us.

Thank You Carlyle Suites for making a difficult visit to DC into a pleasant experience.

“Mr. Basil and the Carlyle Suites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

What a charming - perfect little hotel! The room was spotless, well decorated, and spacious. Most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. Bathroom and kitchen were spotless! Coffee station was well stocked which is important to me. The hotel was the perfect combination of old (art nouveau) and modern conveniences. No charge for parking behind the hotel (that just doesn’t happen in DC – normally an additional $20.00 per day). The Carlyle had a wonderful restaurant and bar and all of the staff were attentive and happy. One of my best hotel experiences ever. But the pièce de résistance, was Mr. Basil who treated me as if I was the most important guest they ever had.

Room Tip: Room 134 is wonderful!

Greetings AndrewClarke! What a terrific review! Thank you for taking the time to write, especially about the cleanliness of your room and the hotel overall. Mr. Basil is certainly beaming from ear to ear, not only for seeing his name mentioned on TripAdvisor, but because he and his team are responsible for the Housekeeping Department at our little Dupont Circle hotel! Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon! - MarcAnthony

“Great value and location with a bonus kitchenette”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

This boutique hotel is located on a residential street close to Dupont Circle. The weekend we went we managed to snag free parking in the small lot in the back (maybe 20 spots) and then walked everywhere. You get a real feel for what it would be like to live in the neighborhood, and it feels like you are walking back to your apartment after a night out. The Metro isn't too far away, but you are centrally located, so cab fares aren't too bad either.

The room was good, a solid 3.5 stars to me, and the kitchenette could be a bonus for longer stays. The K-cup coffee maker is all we used. There was also a basic breakfast available in the lobby bar, but with so many good options in Dupont, we didn't try it. The beds were memory foam, and very comfortable. If you love softer pillow top beds, the bed will probably seem firm to you. Our room had a modern bathroom, a small changing/makeup area, a full size closet with safe in the entry area, a small bar height dining table along with the kitchenette.

Overall this is a well run property where the owners have done an excellent job of taking an older property and making it feel up to date.

Hi erk42! We really appreciate you taking the time to review our hotel. Your description of our location and rooms will be helpful to other readers looking for a hotel in Dupont Circle. The full service kitchens are a great amenity as you mentioned and we are glad you enjoyed the gourmet Keurig coffee makers and Tempur-Pedic beds. Hope you had a safe trip back to San Fran and we hope you consider us again should you make the trip back to Washington! Warm Regards - MarcAnthony

“Incredible location, superb staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

If you want to stay at a "suite" hotel on a quiet street, yet just blocks from the activity in Dupont Circle, this just might be the place for you.

I stayed here for the first time while attending a work function in January 2012, although I had in the past frequented the bar. The Carlyle staff were friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out, particularly the manager David, and the bartender Taj.

The room was well-equipped; the mini-kitchen came in handy for storing groceries and drinks, and the table and chairs provided a nice alternative workspace to the desk. My view of New Hampshire avenue was picturesque, particularly because it was snowing all afternoon. Extra points for the Keurig coffee maker, the vanity dressing area, and the large walk-in shower with "green" amenities!

I'll be revisiting the Carlyle for several days in February, and look forward to another wonderful stay. This time I'll be sure to check out the on-site Fitness Center, and report what I find!

The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. The bar should stay open longer but the over all experience is always good.

Hi AirLar - First off, I see that you are from Sitges! Sitges was one of my favorite stops on a 3 week trip to Spain! What a beautiful (and fun) seaside town! On another note, thank you for your review. I have passed along your comments on the bar hours to our restaurant management team and your compliments to the rest of the staff. Hope you had a safe trip back home! Best, Marcanthony
