I stayed here on business in January, 2012. When I made my reservations online, I was offered the opportunity to select a room on the Executive Floor at a discounted rate, which I accepted. The benefit of doing this allow me access to the Executive Lounge on the 10th floor which provides free access to food and beverages and free internet access which would normally cost $15/day. So this was a good deal.
My room was on the 14th floor. It was small but nicely appointed and recently renovated. I would call the style "updated traditional" which is fitting decor for a DC area hotel but it had a modern touch. The bed was fantastic! The sheets, pillows and mattress were all super comfy and I slept like a baby. Don't expect a great view from the room, though. Many rooms face other buildings or other parts of the hotel as mine did. Even though the room was small, it had everything I needed-- a nice desk with great chair, adequate lighting, nice TV, two spacious closets and a sufficiently stocked bathroom. At first I liked the smell of the bath products but after a couple of days, the smell was getting to me. A bit on the strong side but that's all minor stuff.
Hotel check-in staff were very courteous as were all the staff I encountered. They were doing some construction in the lobby when I was there so there was a bit of a mess but that's temporary.
Beware of the business center computers, though. I paid by the minute to use the computer and printer only to discover that the printers were out of toner, thus a waste of time and money. I called the third-party manager of the business center machines to request a refund and I'm still waiting. Lesson learned.
The fitness center on the main level looks to be well appointed but it will cost you $15/day to use it if you're not a Hilton Honors member of a certain level. Just beware of this.
Lastly, the hotel couldn't be in a better location. Just steps away from the White House's front lawn and other noteworthy attractions. I couldn't be happier about that. Overall, not bad and I'll consider another stay here when returning to the DC area.
Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, be sure to request it.
