I stayed five days on business. This particular hotel is across the river from Reagan airport. The taxi costs about $11 base, and with the surcharges about $15. The taxi driver said there like are 3 Renaissance hotels in DC, but this one can be remembered easily by thinking about Herman Cain's 9-9-9; the address is 999 Ninth St. An option is to use the Metro, the nearest of which is about 3 or 4 blocks away.
My meetings were held in the hotel and I was impressed by the organization and ease of the meetings. The meetings were all conducted two levels below the ground, and the meeting rooms were exclusive (can easily enforce that participants wear badges, they even had security patrolling the area), easily accessible, with good arrangements for sound, beverages, temperature control, business services, even for shoe shines, and near food outlets. Since I was there for business, the cost was not an issue but I found that rates are about $245 per night.
My room is conveniently accessible from the meeting rooms; some rooms apparently are not. The lobby area is splendid and allows free wifi access. There are library-or cafe-style nooks where one can just sit down and pound on one's computer. In addition, stylish furniture and tables are placed strategically all over and allows comfortable surroundings. There is a Starbucks, and a deli at the ground level. We watched the Super Bowl from the Sports bar, and although it was expectedly crowded, there were enough television and staff to make the experience memorable.
The hotel is very close to Chinatown with all its unique restaurants. It is also close to the Smithsonian and DC monuments.
I was assigned to the 11th floor with a view of the inside atrium. I would have preferred one with an outside view, but forgot to request for one. The reception, the Navigator (concierge), housekeeping, phone operator bell hop, and other staff I encountered were all efficient, friendly and helpful. The elevators were quick. Each floor has a vending and ice machine. I love the Aveda rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner and lotion. The rooms are equipped with HD tv, small ref, coffee machine and supplies. I did not get a chance to use the fitness center, but heard others enjoyed use of the facility. I really enjoyed my stay.
