I have a strong preference for small hotels with character and charm instead of the cookie cutter major chain hotels where the one in Washington feels pretty much like the one in St Louis. The Henley Park certainly hits the bullseye for my preference! The small sitting room off the lobby has very comfortable sofas and chairs, free Washington Posts, a working fireplace and a very European look with leaded pane windows. The dining room is equally charming architecturally, and the breakfast I had was very good.
The rooms vary in size and layout. The first one I was given, 802, did not have working wi-fi, and I was moved to 805 which was a little larger with more windows and altho there was a wi-fi problem there at the beginning it got sorted out quickly.
My only regret is the regular price. I got a very good weekend rate via booking.com and will probably be hard pressed to find as nice a hotel at such a good price for future visits to DC.
