“location great, service ok, rooms need to be refreshed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

My family and I stayed there for two nights. Location is very good and convenient. The rooms feel stale and soft goods could be upgraded. The hotel looks as if they are skimping on dollars and I would wach this to see if it gets attention soon. There were times when the staff was very good and then times when the staff was just decent...very inconsistent.

Dear Melizonda
Thank you again for your review of our hotel. We are pleased to hear that you found our location to be convenient to your needs. Please allow us to apologize for the inconsistency that you experienced regarding our staff as well as the hotel in general. Our staff tries their best to ensure that you and your family enjoy your stay but we obviously fell short on this visit and while we pride ourselves on being consistent I promise that we will work harder across the board to achieve this goal. With respect to our suites, we will be closing for two months from March 7 – May 6 to accommodate a major construction project in our atrium. While we are closed we will be going into each and every suite and detailing them to ensure when we reopen we continue to offer the area’s best product. We would like the opportunity to host you and family again within the year so that you can experience, first hand, our improvements and commitment to service. Thank you again for your review as every response makes us a better property.

“Great choice of families visiting Washington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Our family stayed here for a few nights in early September, which was a perfect time to visit: the museums were uncrowded because it was the first week of school for most schools (but not ours.) The hotel breakfast was excellent with lots of hot and cold options, and we also took advantage of the free snacks and drinks at the hotel's happy hour on a couple of the nights. The indoor pool was a must-have for the kids after a hot day of touring the sites. We found the suites to be nicely decorated and the kitchenette helpful the night we stayed in for pizza. We ate out for all other meals, as the suite isn't really equipped for staying in for proper meals. Fine with us though. Quite rooms, comfortable beds and bedding. Kid slept on the sofa bed in the living room and had no complaints. The were two tvs in the unit, so you don't have to watch whatever your kids are watching. We didn't have much time in the room though due to busy sight seeing. Friendly staff, good service all around.

Like other reviewers, we really liked the location attached to a modern mall directly above the subway. Very easy to get around and see the sights. No need for a car, but we did rent one for a day to visit nearby friends and visit Mount Vernon. The latter is the home of George Washington - a full day excursion to a large historic estate with a lovely setting on the banks of the Potomacs - complete with slave quarters and all - not to be missed! We also really liked the primate section of the zoo, where a glassed in section allowed us to chew bubble gum with a gorilla. She had her own gum and loved seeing people do tricks with theirs. Mount Vernon is paid admission, but the zoo and museums are all free of charge.

“Very good hotel for touring DC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Pros: Clean, friendly and helpful staff, free breakfast, subway station in building, Cheescake factory and other shops and restauarants in building

Cons: had to wait a really long time for hotel elevator at times, breakast selection was limited, parking was vey expensive.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend while sightseeing in DC. This was a very nice hotel - the room was spacious and clean, and the free breakfast was satisfactory. We took the subway within the building to downtown DC which was very convenient. it was also nice having a Cheescake Factory mere steps away. We stayed on the 7th floor and could hear traffic sounds from he street below but it did not keep us awake. The only negatives at this hotel were that therer is only one elevator so we had to wait around 5 minutes for it each morning, parking was expensive at about 24 bucks a day, and the breakfast selection was limited. The made to order omelets were excellent but the premade pancakes, potatoes, and scrambled eggs were cold and somewhat overcooked. Oh, and wireless internet is not free unless you are a Hilton preferred member. Oh well, we would still stay here again.

Dear Doves123:
Thank you again for your honest feedback regarding your hotel experience. We enjoy that you found the access to the Metro station as well as the local shopping and dining highly acceptable. I do apologize that you had an extended wait time for the elevator. During your stay, we did have an unexpected issue with one of our guest elevators and for safety reasons had to shut it down for repairs. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time period. Also our complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast is one of our most popular amenities and we are pleased that you were able to partake during stay. I will be following up with my Executive Chef as to the unsatisfactory level of some of the breakfast items that you mentioned. With regards to Internet services, our property does offer complimentary Internet service in our Business Center which has 24-Hour access via your suite key for your enjoyment and use in addition to providing it to our Gold and Diamond HHonors members. Thank you once again for choosing Embassy Suites Chevy Chase Pavilion and giving us the opportunity to serve you. We do look forwarding to welcoming you back soon!

This hotel was a great stay for our family. The location was fantastic, parking convenient, shopping and attached restaurants an added bonus. The housekeeping was particularly good here. We hopped on the train at the attached station and got everywhere we needed to go with no problems whatsoever. We would definitely stay here again

“Christmas in DC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Location, location, location! This applies to all real estate and this hotel. It is within walking distance of stores, restaurants (Cosi, Panera, McDonald's, PF Chang's w/in walking distance 1-2 blocks, Cheesecake Factory and Maggiano's in Chevy Chase Pavillion a movie theater (across the street), Whole Foods nearby and a CVS inside the building... The hotel was clean and comfortable for our small family of 3. The breakfast is a convenience for families. Omelette station, bacon/sausage, pancakes, pastries, fruit, and yogurt, coffee and juice offerings. The food was plentiful but not of great quality. Generally we found the staff, helpful, and friendly, as with any establishment some more courteous and helpful than others. I found the bed comfortable and clean. Our son said the sofa bed was comfortable as well. He's complained about other hotels but says, he "slept like a baby" which is like five stars from a 14yr. old. The issue of paying $9.95 per 24hrs for Wi-Fi service for each computer is annoying. Go to Starbucks and use their free wi-fi. Our trip Dec. 24th-Dec. 29th 2011 included daily visits to the monuments. We preferred using the Metro located on the lower level of the hotel. If you have a local subway system in your town it is similar but very easy to navigate. With very little direction and a map from the front desk we were able to find and visit the Lincoln Memorial within an hour after dropping our bags at the hotel. Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing for the winter weather. On our final day we decided to drive to the National Mall. Parking is a problem and lots of walking still. Save yourself the trouble and take Metro.

Dear TeachKidz25,

Thank you very much for your review and i am glad to hear that you had an overall good experience with our property. I want also to apologize if the quality of our breakfast was not to the level of your expectation. I personally view our breakfast as a key point of differentiation among the many competitors in our area and want it to always be of the highest quality and value. We take the feedback from our guests very seriously and I have reviewed your comments with our Executive Chef and her team to ensure we are doing everything we can to create a high-quality product for our guests. Thank you again for sharing your comments and we hope to have you back with us soon!
