We went to Washington DC in a very very cold weather (for us 15 F is very very cold!) and we found our room very comfortable, warm and quiet.
The hotel looks nice like all the building in that neighbor. It is situated in a very quiet road, but so close at the intersection with U Street, that is a very lively street, full of restaurants, bars and lovely tiny boutiques. So if you want to have a quiet and calm stay, you will have it, because the road of the hotel isn't much trafficated, but if you want to experience the night life or simply have some food very close to your location, you'll have it as well!
Moreover the hotel is located in 16th Street, that (if you simply check it out on a map) it's the same street of the White House. So if yuo like walking and exploring new places, you can just walk from the hotel to the White House straight on in a 25/30 minutes walk.
Other ways to move from and to there are: the Subway station of U Street (3 pretty long blocks from the hotel, approximately 7 minutes walk) and a bust stop for the number 96 at the intersection between U street and 16th street, very close to the hotel.
We found our room very large to be a double room. The room was well furnished, in a fine decor. We also had a desk, an antique writing desk, a sofa and other authentic antique forniture, included a chimney! (Not usable of course, but very romantic!).
The room was very warm respect to the weather outside, and we were very happy about that. The bathroom was very clean and new fubished. The bathroom didn't have the heating, but we had a movable radiator that we can move between the bathroom and the room, as we preferred.
The breakfast was not that good. We had some self-service milk and coffee and donuts and croissants, but not a big deal.
We were very satisfacted of our stay there, especially comparing the prices of other hotels in the US. We paid 74$ for a double room, that for the US standards is cheap, and we didn't expect a so lovely place for that price.
Just one thing to notice for people who have disabilities and have weelchairs or couple with baby buggies. Unfortunately is not very accessible because it has many stairs and I didn't see any elevator.
I would definitely suggest this place to all people who need to stay in Washington DC.
