Totally loved that the owner shared breakfast with us and stimulated all sorts of conversation.....a lot of it political. Really good.

What a lovely place to spend 2 very sad days saying goodbye to my girlfriend. We stayed in the Victorian Room on the groung floor and I was quite glad because we had a lot of luggage, which we would have had to carry upstairs. The owners Alan and Anexora made us feel very welcome and extended their hospitality beyond expectation.
It is conveniently located about 100m north of Dupont Circle on 19th Street and comprises 2 red brick town houses that have been knocked into one. The Dupont Circle Metro is literally 1 min away and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Although we didnt do it, the open top bus tour stops just aroung the corner every 1/2 hour.
7 days beforehand I had stayed in a chain hotel between Thomas Circle and China Town on K & 10th and I found the Dupont to be much better and the area was more vibrant. There are a variety of hotels with confusingly similar names like The Dupont Hotel and The Dupont Inn B&B and I think some of the less favourable reviews on here are meant for those.
The breakfasts are basic but were ample for our needs and everyone seemed to be having a jolly time chatting around the communal dining table over breakfast.
Last year I drove -- this year I took Amtrak to Union Station, the Metro to Dupont Circle, and I walked the one block to the B&B. All of the outdoor cafes were filled with people enjoying the beautiful weather. The B&B was every bit as good as last year: sheets were beautiful fabric, perfectly ironed. The breakfast was excellent. Everything was super clean. And I enjoyed visiting Kramer Books & Afterwards which is just steps away.
I remembered that I should write this review when I suggested to my neighbor that he stay at this B&B next week when he's visiting Washington.
Went to DC for some fun. The weather was great!!! Flowers were everywhere. The food was fantastic!!! Taro sushi the best we have ever had.
The B&B was not the best we have stayed in at all.
It may have been great 10-20 years ago but the place is not up to snuff by our standards.
I tried to open the windows for some fresh air, forget that idea they were to old to do that. The place was clean which was good at that level. the room was really dark, not good. I would not go back to Dupont at The Circle. Then again if I could get a room at that sushi bar I would say I'm going back tomorrow.
I just wanted to comment on the service at this B&B - my husband and I were lost after just having arrived to DC & had the wrong address for our accomodations. Having stumbled upon this place - they graciously invited us in and even helped us find out the correct address for our B&B. Amazing service & thanks for the help!
