“A great find in a lively neighborhood, far from the power-suit crowd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2010

We were so lucky to find this place for a last-minute trip, when everything else was booked solid. The owners, John and Yuroslav, have renovated this brownstone beautifully, and it's far better than we expected for the price. Our shared bathroom on the third floor was cramped and could use some updating, but was perfectly fine. Our room was large, nicely decorated and extremely comfortable. The U Street corridor is a lively, gentrified/gentrifying neighborhood with a good selection of restaurants (we enjoyed a great meal at Marvin. Beware: the portions are gigantic!). The B&B is about a 12 minute walk from the Metro.

“Suite was perfect for a couple traveling with daughter!”

U. Street turned out to be a very happening place and John, the very accomodating owner, was great about suggesting fun, trendy and delicious restaurants nearby (loved Tabaq!) The second floor suite was perfect for us - clean and cozy, with attached sitting room with door that provided both privacy and savings for a small family. And the AC worked well - needed for the 90 degree weather we had. Would definitely recommend this B&B -- a very nice clean house, where we felt quite at home during our stay.

“really glad B&B, amazing location, perfect for our whole extended families”

we came to DC for a retirement party for a family member and took over the top two floors of this great place for a weekend. quite a good combo of welcoming B&B (john was great!) and also cozy rooms with lots of privacy. we really enjoyed ourselves on the trip because the place was so well located, perfect for our dinners in dupont and the retirement party downtown, and because there was so much room! we had toddlers in the group and they loved the large open space upstairs. a great find, would definitely return!

“We LOVE this place! Would go back in a heartbeat!”

John was fabulous. We were going to be late so called and told him and he was charming and patiently waiting for us when we arrived. The house is wonderful, old, full of character and history. Our room was on the 3rd floor but windows that opened and AC for when it gets hot. The breakfasts were handy and great. We loved the "living room" area and had friends over the last night we were there. Almost like home . . . . away from home. The area was great. Five blocks or so to Metro, restaurants all around and very helpful owner, recommending and suggesting. I did a lot of searching online before we left home and was totally dazzled by the reviews U Street had. And now I know why!

“What a charming B & B ~Loved it~”

This B & B is so charming. You walk in and are instantly surrounded with the warmth and charm of an era gone by. The architecture of the building is beautiful with transom windows, stunning fireplaces and exquisite wood work. Very cozy and comforting.

You have run of the house so you welcome to use all the common areas. There is also a baby grand piano in the parlor.

John is the most amazing host you will ever have. He is there to answer any and all questions and is right there for you at all times. Breakfast is great with fresh fruit, cheeses, juices, etc all set up for you in the morning. I'm sad to be home now that I have to make my own breakfast again....lol.

It is so much fun to stay at these historic B&B's. It really makes you feel like you are part of the city. A real gem in the city.
