We were actually quite disappointed with our stay here, after looking forward very much to staying in the Mandarin Oriental for the first time. The ambiance was generically elitist, and the Tai pan club level rooms provided nothing extraordinary. The room was a lot smaller than we thought, even after being told that we would get one of the larger water view rooms. If you expect club level service, you'll be even more annoyed here. We where told that a Vodka martini was an added cost even though premium brand drinks and snacks are to be included in the $800 p/night club price. But a premium brand vodka on the rocks w/olives is included? The club level food was always pretty empty and was not anything to write home about. It took 40 min. to send up extra pillows at 10:30 pm, turn down was nothing but placing the robes that were in the bathroom on the bed and a card saying to go eat breakfast at the restaurant ,I could go on and on. My advise for on staying at this expensive overrated hotel is to go to one of the many fine hotels in the DC area and save your money it is not worth it. We have traveled around the world and stayed at many luxury hotels that have been amazing and went above and beyond to make the guests happy, sadly this is not one of them.
